Thomas Bomber Kavanagh cooked up his gun plot while behind bars with a cousin of football legend Steven Gerrard.
Known as Uncle Bobby, Gerrard's first cousin is a cocaine trafficker who was behind bars at Dovegate prison as Bomber faced a hefty sentence for drug dealing and money laundering.
Gerrard advised him to buy, bury and then hand up weapons to police to reduce any time he would serve - but then the plot went wrong.
Nicola speaks to Niall Donald about Gerrard, Bomber and the innocent football legend caught up with some of the biggest names in organised crime.
