We have interviewed Maryam Raji who is a final-year PhD candidate in Management at The University of Melbourne, Australia. She holds a first-class honours degree in Electronic, Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a master’s degree in Engineering Systems Management from the American University of Sharjah, UAE. Maryam’s PhD research uses quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate why engineers remain in or leave engineering. Her research spans the sociocultural contexts of Australia and the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries. Findings from Maryam’s research have the potential to enhance the Human Resource (HR) function through improving employees’ experiences of the workplace and reducing turnover. Maryam’s research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals. Maryam has tutored undergraduate subjects in engineering and management in the UAE and Australia. She has also worked as an engineer in the telecommunications and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries. Maryam has worked for organisations in Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Nigeria. We have Talked about why Engineers ( Especially Females) leaving Engineers after graduation. She is doing a Thesis and has a survey in the GCC on why Engineers leaving the Profession after graduation.
