After the success of Kids, Harmony Korine doubles down on his next film. Now sitting in the director's seat, Korine proclaims he "hates art" and decides to trash any traditional film tropes to create "perfect nonsense" with Gummo, a fictional/documentary-style snapshot of the tornado-wrecked American town of Xenia, Ohio. Non-narrative, non-linear, with no protagonist or antagonist but an amalgamation of characters that live in the dark corners of Americana.
