Imagine a real time toxicity test that you could apply to all your social media messages and emails, before you set them free in the cyber universe. Auckland University researchers have developed exactly that; an AI driven chat app that operates like a spell checker for nasty language and can flag potentially harmful messages before they are sent. The app called Serenity prompts the user to reconsider their words, meaning cyber bullying can be mitigated in real time. Auckland University business school lead researcher Dr Johnny Chan spoke to Lisa Owen.
