On today's episode we discuss the Rise and Fall of the Spanish Empire. This podcast was inspired by a simple question we had asked each other: "How come Spain owned nothing after discovering the New World, whereas France and England owned the majority of the planet?" In this episode we discuss how the Iberian Peninsula went from a haven of forward thinking, multi-religious haven of economic domination into the conquest of the New World, and the eventual unraveling of an empire. This episode serves as a precursor to our next two episodes on Latin America.
