Happy birthday Karl Smith!
Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the Blue continent, where it is partly cloudy and a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius at 5am this morning.
In Rugby Union: Our world famous tips for all the big southern hemisphere rugby this weekend: The All Blacks to sylvesterstallone the Wallabies in Sydney today, Manu Samoa to georgeclooney USA in Japan, Fiji to georgeveikoso Japan and take the PNC final, and South Africa to hugoporta Los Pumas tomorrow in Argentina.
In Rugby League: Cronulla Sharks produced their best opening 40 in a final to finally break their September drought and beat the Cowboys 18-26 at Allianz Stadium in Sydney last night.
Nicho Hynes was under huge pressure coming into the game, but he did his job, along with his halves partner Braydon Trindall who lit up Allianz Stadium with the best performance of his career.
The Cowboys worked hard, but they couldn’t overcome a horror start that saw them trailing 24-0.
Today, we tip the Sydney Roosters to cockadoodledoo Manly Sea Eagles.
In Football: Spain and Manchester City midfielder, Rodri says that professional footballers are “close to striking” as a result of their ever-increasing schedules.
This after the UEFA Champions League expansion has taken the number of games in their comp from 125 to 189.
The 28-year-old played 50 games for club and country last season and could feature in as many as 77 games if both City and the Spanish national team progress deep in their respective competitions this season.
Meanwhile, FIFA has announced the expanded FIFA Club World Cup, which City is set to take part in next July.
In Sports Biz: Nike shares jumped more than 9% in immediate after-hours trading yesterday, on the news that former company senior executive, Elliott Hill is coming out of retirement to take on the role of President and CEO, replacing the embattled incumbent John Donahoe, who has been in the post for nearly five years.
In Combat Sports: Anthony Joshua weighed in 1.8Kg heavier than his fellow Brit, Daniel Dubois at the foot of Nelson's Column, in a packed Trafalgar Square, as the two British boxers faced off for the last time ahead of their IBF World Heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium tomorrow.
So get ready for the “Battle of Britain” peeps!
And that’s a wrap!
