She got to see the film in its entirety at the American Library Association annual conference. Estevez worked with Ryan Dowd, Executive Director of a large homeless shelter in Chicago and author of Librarian's Guide to Homelessness. Dowd's work is very interesting and helpful for library staff as well as community members interested in the issue of homelessness. Kamau Bell Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue The Body is Not an Apology She Said/She Said: The Body is Not an Apology by Sonya Renee Taylor We owe a debt of gratitude to Kimberly on the book squad. She basically told us we were fired if we didn't read it and, while she doesn't have that kind of power technically, we took her seriously. And thank goodness we did. Sonya Renee Taylor is the founder of The Body is Not an Apology, "an international movement committed to cultivating global Radical Self Love and Body Empowerment." We highly recommend checking out the website aaaaannnnddddd reading her book because it is pretty radical and amazing. Or, better yet, listen to the audiobook on Hoopla, narrated by Taylor herself!
