In this episode I speak with Daniel and Lauren Goans, a.k.a. the folk duo phenom Lowland Hum, whose music has drawn acclaim from NPR to Billboard to just about every other media outlet. Touring nationally since 2013, Lowland Hum has become known for combining intricate harmonies and arrangements with a deceptively simple sound. And although they call it “quiet music,” they’ve put together a powerful and prolific catalogue of songs that speaks for itself.
Like many touring bands, the COVID-19 pandemic upended Lowland Hum’s life as a band on the road for 6+ months each year. In our conversation we talk about how they’ve maintained and even deepened a connection with their fans in the midst of quarantine as well as the ways that they’ve been to replace lost touring revenue while they’re stuck at home.
