Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three people who lived in a foreign land. Their nation had been conquered and they now worked for Nebuchadnezzar- the conquering emperor.
In every circumstance they carried themselves with integrity. They worked hard and tried to be a blessing where they were in the land where they lived. They were trusted servants of the empire. Nevertheless, they never compromised their core values.
When given the choice of bowing down to an idol or being thrown into a fiery furnace, their answer was unequivocal. They believed that God was able to deliver them. Even if not, they still weren’t bowing down to that.
We must be committed to doing the right things, even it doesn’t look like it’s going to work out. We must have the courage to live our convictions.
