×Hyatt Vineyards launched as a regional high benchmark for wine quality, since 1985 in the Yakima Valley as a top Merlot and Riesling producer. In 1990, the leading wine media of the Wine Spectator, Seattle Times, Tri-Cities Herald and Tri-Cities Wine Festival all listed Hyatt among the best producers. Growing to 30,000cs production, Hyatt continued as a top producer for 2 decades. Today, we farm the original 87 acres which produced those award-winning wines. The Legacy of Hyatt was crafted in excellence over 40 years ago by Leland and Lynda Hyatt. In 1983, what started as a simple vineyard planting, soon turned into a booming full production winery. We’ve honed our craft to cultivate the finest wines this region for four decades. Hyatt Vineyards’ second generation is investing in remaking those top-quality wines from these old vines at the Estate with renewed labels and winemaking, bringing an innovative approach to create extraordinary experiences and legacy wines.…
At Gilbert Cellars, we’ve been busy reimagining what a winery can be! We think it should feel spirited, inclusive, and a little bit tipsy. A space where you can meet up, learn, party, relax, or just be. We make wines that pair with all these things. We find joy in being a part of this gorgeous valley, where we’ve long been stewards of the land. We love building this dynamic community, and sharing what wine culture is to us. As fifth-generation stewards of the land, we must ensure its viability for the generations to come. Washington State has just launched the Sustainable WA certification, which we are practicing, along with farming organically in vineyards where the microclimates make it possible. Our goal is to have minimal intervention in the vines, tending them for the sake of healthy plants and soil, and to minimize the amount of interaction post-harvest.…

Dichotomy is a Washington State vineyard and winery born from winemakers Jarred Jenner and Rosie Signer after they fell in love on the coast of South Australia. Rosie grew up in Spokane Washington and studied Viticulture and Enology at WSU before heading to Australia, where she fell in love with the terroir and Barossa born and bred winemaker, Jarred Jenner. In 2021 Jarred and Rosie banded together in 2021 and started the Dichotomy brand in Australia crafting small batch wines from beloved vineyards in McLaren Vale, Barossa, and the Adelaide Hills. In 2022, amidst the challenges of Covid-19, they took a bold leap of faith by purchasing a dormant winery and vineyard in Yakima Valley without ever seeing it in person. With just six suitcases, their young children, and their beloved dog Yeti in tow, they embarked on this new adventure. Despite their unfamiliarity with the area, the promise of Yakima Valley’s renowned wines and the allure of the vineyard's mature 30-40-year-old vines compelled them to dive in.…
C.H. Wente came to America in the late 1800s from Hamburg Germany, learned to make wine from a German by the name of Charles Krug in the Napa Valley, and in 1883 established his first 47-acre Estate and Winery. He chose the Livermore Valley as it was famed for its excellent soils and climate. In 1908, C.H. planted the first Chardonnay vines in the Livermore Valley. In 1912, second generation and a UC Davis student, Ernest Wente, persuaded his father and founder, C.H. Wente, to import Chardonnay cuttings from a well-known vine nursery, F. Richter Nursery n Montpellier, France, to the Livermore Valley.Ernest hand-picked vines that showed the best health and pronounced flavors, grafted the two together, and propagated those characteristics forward. Ultimately creating what is known as the ‘Wente Clone.’ Today, over 75% of all California Chardonnay stems from the Wente Clone and the Wente Family property. Wente produced sacramental wines throughout prohibition to keep the winery and vineyards in production. After the repeal of the National Prohibition Act (Volstead Act) in 1933, Ernest and his brother Herman Wente released the nation’s first varietally-labeled Chardonnay, a 1936 vintage.Ernest and his son Karl L. Wente pioneered new vineyard plantings in 1964 in the Arroyo Seco region of Monterey County. Here they plant Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Chardonnay. In 1966, Wente Vineyards Tasting Room opens in Livermore Valley, and is one of the first tasting rooms in California. Throughout the late 1970s and till today, the fourth generation Winegrowers Eric, Philip, and Carolyn Wente head operations of the winery, continuing expanding vineyards, winery, and related visitor facilities. In 1986, The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards opened California’s third winery restaurant. In addition, the Wente Vineyards annual series launched the Concerts, attracting top entertainers and thousands of guests annually. In 1998, The Course at Wente Vineyards, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Greg Norman, was opened, enhancing the wine country lifestyle of the Livermore Valley. At the same time, Wente Vineyards has become one of California’s most extensive wine exporters to over 75 countries. In 2010, Wente Vineyards received one of the first certifications for a California Certified Vineyard and Winery, and The Course at Wente Vineyards received Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary statusToday, fifth generation winegrowers Karl, Christine, Jordan, Aly, and Niki Wente are actively working in various roles in the winery from operations, viticulture, and marketing. Their legacy is yet to be determined, but they are very passionate about continuing the family tradition of sustainable farming and producing the best-quality wines.…

What started as a hobby quickly grew into passion for Ken and Alexandra, the father-gauther winemaking team behind Omega Road. They opened Omega Road Winery to the public in 2017, and have been sharing their beautiful wines with guests ever since. Ken and Alexandra showcase interesting varietals and unique blendas that maintain varietal characteristics while building complex flavors and intervening as little as possible. They are known for being a bit adventurous in their winemaking while crafting bottles that are beautiful on their own or when paired with food.…
Every day by 4:00pm, the horn sounds and the train goes by Oak Ridge Winery, at crossing #842837B, splashed with vibrant graffiti – a stark contrast against the concrete building it passes. In Lodi harvest lore, railroads were a method of transporting grapes during harvest; now, an industrial relic no longer suited to the romance of winemaking. But romance isn’t something that Oak Ridge is overly concerned about – what we are concerned about is quality, heritage, and authenticity. We’re on the east side. The east side of town. The other side of the tracks. It’s old over here; industrial. Cement and steel. Tanks. Pipes. Bricks. It is the site of the oldest continuously operating winery in Lodi, California: Oak Ridge Winery – once a historic wine cooperative, aptly named, East-Side Winery. We are proud of our place on the east side; its sense of history, its legacy. It represents who we are, where we’re from, and where we’re going.…

Starting with just 1 wine, they produce several more now, but still focus on Cabernet Sauvignon from the Livermore Valley.…

Like many that find themselves in this industry, Jessica started her path in a different field: Civil Engineering. She graduated from the University of Portland and worked as a Transportation Engineer in the Bay Area until finding her passion in wine. After careful thought, she made the leap into wine in 2014. While completing her Certificate of Enology from Las Positas College, she worked full time at a winery in Livermore Valley. The list of reasons Jessica loves the wine industry is long and all of them make it a well matched career path for her. She was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to open up her own winery in 2023 and jumped at the chance to fulfil that dream.…

Darcie is a fifth-generation vintner and artist. 100% of our wines are estate grown, bottled and produced by the Kent family. We are also re-writing Livermore's legacy for Pinot Noir with our numerous acclaimed releases from our cool climate Triska Vineyard. Darcie Kent Estate Winery is open seven days a week, with sweeping vineyard views from both our outdoor and indoor tasting spaces. Visitors also have a chance to take in the wonder and delight of Darcie's original artwork. Come celebrate art, wine, and the natural world!…
Larry and Margie Dino are the proprietors of Cuda Ridge Wines. Their passion for fine wines led them to Livermore Valley – a world-class wine region with wine roots dating back to the mid-1800s. In the 1940’s, Victor Anaya moved from Mexico to California's Central Valley, establishing roots in Clements Hills AVA. Now as a third generation, I oversee Anaya Vineyard's wines from our vineyards. We blend tradition and art to create elegant wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Nebbiolo, Tempranillo, and Albariño, all beautifully presented with very low intervention in winemaking and truthful to the varietal and terroir.…
Founded in 2010, 3 Steves was born over 3 friends sitting around having a glass of wine and talking about starting our own winery. All owned part of a small boutique winery at the time and before long realized it was time to start our own label from the ground up, and thought it was obvious to name the new project 3 Steves Winery. Originally leasing space within another local winery with a pouring facility downtown, 3 Steves quickly grew and in 2013 opened our doors at our current location on Greenville Hill. Our winery is ever growing and changing, while still focusing on our roots of Bordeaux and Italian varietals being served in a welcoming, family style setting.…

kukkula is on the westside of Paso Robles in the Adelaida District with steep, north facing hills. The vineyard elevation ranges from 1500-1900 feet. We are organic dry-farmers with a Rhone-centric bias. Today, we farm 42 acres of vines, all head-trained and estate grown. We’re focused on making wines of distinction that are finessed, elegant, terroir driven, and work beautifully with food. Our fruit is fermented using native yeast, with no fining/filtering, and are typically aged in barrel and bottle for 2 ½ - 3 years before being released.Because our terroir is like the Rhône region of France, we are Rhône-centric. Other than Cabernet Sauvignon, we grow Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Counoise, Petite Sirah, and Roussanne. We believe the hard work is done in the vineyard, and if we maintain this discipline, farm organically and without irrigation, we will create wines of intense aromatics, flavors, and color, that are a true expression of place, and the essence of our unique terroir. We believe that if we’ve farmed well, there is little need to intervene in the cellar. We don’t adhere to conventional notions and trends. Rather, curiosity and creativity dictate what goes into our final blends.…
Located in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon, Troon Vineyard has a long history dating back to 1972, yet recent years have seen it become one of the most forward-thinking wineries in the U.S., as it is one of just two to have become Regenerative Organic Certified through the Regenerative Organic Alliance. The recent certification follows a conversion to biodynamic farming that has revitalized the estate’s soils while also providing a template for other wineries both locally and around the world to reduce their environmental footprint.…
Founded in 2013 by winemaker Jacques Lardière of Maison Louis Jadot, Résonance crafts expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from its estate Résonance Vineyard and other premier sites throughout the Willamette Valley that embody the elegance and complexity Oregon wines are known for. The seeds for the project were planted when Maison Louis Jadot set out to establish its first winery outside of Burgundy. Last summer, the winery opened its second tasting room at their Découverte Vineyard which offers an intimate indoor tasting environment and elegant outdoor patio area where visitors can immerse themselves in the rolling vineyards vistas of the Dundee Hills. Their Grand Tasting Room in Carlton, Oregon, features panoramic views of the 150-mile valley framed by mountains and woven together by the Willamette River.…

I'm from Washington DC, which is split into different wards , and my mother's maiden name is Ward. There are also four people in my family, I've created four different styles of wine to each represent a different person. Growing up, my dad always told me about the beauty of Chocolate City and the rich history of Washington DC. I am lucky to have grown up in the house my dad grew up in, we've had the same home phone number since he was 9 years old. Being a fourth Generation native to Washington DC, is something you see less and less.Endlessly fascinated by discovery, every wine in the Ward Four collection is inspired by a loved one. Whether it's the playful, lighter and more fun personality of Teddy’s skin contact white wines or the gutsier, fuller-bodied character of Ted’s reds, you can tell every bottle has been made with love, compassion and honour.Ward Four Wines is built on my core four, but I would be nowhere without my godmom, uncles, aunties, and friends. Our aim is to bring an entirely new level of personal vulnerability to the world of wine - shifting the dial and shining a light loudly and proudly on the beautiful people who inspire me. Every wine tells a story.…

My name is Nancy Ulloa and I am the Winemaker, Owner & Boss Lady of Ulloa Cellars. Ulloa Cellars is a tale of passion for a dream and the manifestation of the hard work involved in the process. I moved to Paso Robles from the Bay Area in 2017 with the burning desire to learn the art of winemaking. For the last few years, I have gained an invaluable amount of knowledge from various respected winemakers/mentors who have eagerly welcomed me to this community. Fast forward 6 years, I am about to release my fourth vintage of Ulloa Cellars. Established in 2019 my journey started with the creation of my first wine, Grüner Veltliner. Backed up with lots of supporting vibes, Baby Grüner was a huge success leading to the expansion of my current project in 2022. With endless gratitude and humbleness, I hope you enjoy these wines as much as I enjoyed the journey of their creation.…
Our family farmed estate vineyards harness the terroir of the SLO Coast, allowing our wines to express unique authenticity. Climatically our coolest site, Rosemary’s Vineyard tends to produce berries with thicker skins than our other vineyards. The resulting wines have a darker appeal, with a surprisingly light and elegant flavor profile. And because of the unique combination of cool temperatures and shaly loam soil, Rosemary’s Pinot Noir has higher acidity that provides incredible length on the finish. As the pioneering Pinot Noir producer in the Arroyo Grande Valley, we made our first wine in 1986 and planted our first vineyard in 1982. We are inspired by Burgundy for its unwavering dedication to wine that perfectly expresses place and time. Our location within California’s SLO Coast region imparts a beautiful mix of gentle sunshine and cool weather ideally suited for Pinot Noir. Talley Pinot Noir tends to be refreshing, energetic, and delicate rather than fruit-laden and oak-heavy. Our Pinot typically expresses aromas of forest floor and violet, cranberry and raspberry on the palate, and an elegant and silky texture.…

In 1973, Davis Bynum first released his small lot of single vineyard Pinot Noir from the famed Rochioli vineyard in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. The first to produce single vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Davis Bynum was instrumental in bringing the prestige to Russian River Valley vineyards, still acclaimed as one of California’s finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir growing regions. Since 2007, the winery remains in the capable hands of proprietor Tom Klein, along with winemaker Greg Morthole. Through bold innovation in the vineyard and the cellar, his deft guidance keeps the winery moving forward, while never losing touch with the past. Today, more than 40 years later, the heritage of Davis Bynum lives on through the hand-crafted creation of wine grown exclusively in Russian River Valley.…
Founded in 2003 and dedicated to Rhone varietals, Alta Colina farms 31 acres of steep mountainsides in the Paso Robles/Adelaida District. The combination of shallow, calcareous soils and a dinurnal temperature shift approaching 40 degrees during the growing season yield fully ripened fruit and balanced wines. We are a true estate operation—fruit is organically grown and wine is fermented/aged/bottled completely on our ranch. In addition, most sales are done on-site directly to the consumer. Our wines have received many accolades over the years.…

Over 20 years ago, our Founding Partner, Tom Stolpman, discovered what we believe to be one of the greatest viticultural sites on earth. Hidden in the hills of California’s Central Coast, on a rare Limestone outcropping & unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this unique land is naturally suited to grow Syrah and Roussanne grapes. We are committed to preserving this natural environment for our vines through conscious farming, dry farming, & sustainable employment. In the winery, we prefer native fermentation & minimal manipulation. Dedicated to sensible farming & winemaking, we believe that we can create vibrant, site-specific wines, with a focus unique to Ballard Canyon AVA, California. Stolpman wines directly reflect the limestone soils and cool windy conditions of our Ballard Canyon AVA vineyard. Vines grow in conservative balance, receiving little, if any, irrigation. With an extensive landscape, the Merriam family owns a total of 50 estate acres and farms 9 different varieties with CCOF and CCSW certifications, demonstrating their long term commitment to the land and environment. Our ultimate goal is to nurture the land, vines, and fruit in order to maintain the purest forms of each possible. As such, all of the most crucial work is done in the vineyard with a holistic approach.Situated amongst the beautiful Sta. Rita Hills, Melville is a boutique, family-owned winery dedicated to producing exceptional cold-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah grown exclusively on our estate vineyards. Originally a farming-only enterprise, our founder, Ron Melville, established Melville Vineyards in 1989 in Sonoma County’s Knights Valley. Melville places great importance on being an “estate” winery, meaning we work exclusively with fruit from vineyards that we own and tend to ourselves, in addition to controlling all aspects of making and selling our wines. Farming aggressively, yet carefully, helps encourage the vines to produce small amounts of intensely concentrated fruit.…
Tres Sabores (“three tastes”) was founded in 1999 by winemaker and owner, Julie Johnson, to explore the ‘three savory flavors’ in every glass of wine: the taste of the vine, the terroir, and the good company around the table. The property is filled with growing history as olives and vines were planted here over a century ago. Today, the farm is a certified organic (CCOF) grower of Cabernet, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot, pomegranates, Meyer lemons, and Olives. We also raise Guinea fowl and sheep who serve not only as lawn mowers and the mobile fertilization team for the ranch but also ‘go to market’ and are served in some of the finest farm to table restaurants in the Bay Area.…
A son of Santa Barbara, Justin Tyler Willett began Tyler in 2005 at the age of 24 with a few barrels tucked away in the corner of the Sta. Rita Hills cellar he was working in at the time. It was there, as the assistant winemaker, he honed his approach to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Here, Justin makes wines of clarity and poise wines lead with structure and persistence; they evoke confidence, focus and vibrancy. Justin is the first to tell you that these are virtues of terroir: they are not created in the cellar, but delicately drawn forth. The unique combination of marine soils, a long mild growing season, and cool ocean influence make this a truly wonderful place for growing pinot noir and chardonnay.…
I started Verdad in 2000 making wines from Spanish grape varieties grown on the Central Coast. I, along with Mike Havens made the first commercial releases of Albariño in California in 2000. I planted Tempranillo in SB County in 1999 and produced a Tempranillo blend in 2001. I focus on making wines from organic/biodyanmic grapes, when possible. I started making Cabernet Sauvignon in 2014 and now produce a Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles sourced from certified organic grapes. This vintage I will also make a Cabernet Sauvignon (also sourced from certified organic grapes), from Santa Ynez Valley/Happy Canyon. Also, vintage 2022 I will be making a Godello made from grapes grown in the Tunnel View Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley.…
Martha Stoumen Wines was founded in Sonoma County, CA in 2014 with the goal of recapturing a farming and winemaking culture that has all but faded away: a winemaking culture of patience. After 8 years apprenticing with minimal-intervention winegrowers around the world, Martha set out as a self-funded, first-generation winemaker to answer the question, “What does California taste like when we challenge the norm?” Our wines are made from unexpected varietals and offer new takes on Northern Californian classics. 98% of our vineyards are either certified organic or practicing organic or biodynamic farming. Over 70% of our vineyards are dry farmed, meaning we only use the water nature provides (which is tricky but very important in California). We look to serve nature and the people who live there, which for us is what expressing terroir is all about. Martha is part of the 5% of women in the CA wine industry that are owners and lead winemakers. She is proud of her stellar female-led team as well. Of the nearly two dozen wines Martha and her team make every year, blends and flavors change according to what nature dictates, but their desire to share the simple pleasures of hand-crafted Californian wine remains the same.…

Nabor Wines LLC was starting in 2015 with just two barrels but I still remain the sole employee. I began in a custom crush in Westlake Village and cut my teeth there for 3 years before the custom crush went defunct and I acquired all the equipment and moved to my own location in Camarillo. I source primarily from Santa Barbara County and all the associated AVA’s within that. The winery produces about 3000 cases now under 3 brands. The primary brand is Dusty Nabor Wines which makes about 1000 cases comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, Viognier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir…
It all started in 2004 with a tiny patch of raw earth and a bucket of grapevines to make a dream come true. Ground. Grapes. Grit. The initial goal was to produce Pinot Noir from these grapevines. “The best laid plans....” In the process of digging in the dirt, we learned the true meaning of terroir and its absolute vital role in producing premium fruit. Casa Dumetz is what brought me here, to this place. Starting in 2016, the Casa Dumetz label began producing one singular Pinot Noir from the Sta. Rita Hills. Each vintage explores a unique vineyard and clone within the appellation. With the 2020 vintage, we introduced a kindred Chardonnay to the Casa Dumetz label, sourced exclusively from the LaBarge Estate off Sweeney Canyon road planted on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills. If you know Pierre LaBarge, owner and vigneron, you know his farming responsibilities are executed with extreme care. We are beyond excited to be the sole recipient of the only Chardonnay planted on this property. Thank you, Pierre. Today, Casa Dumetz is the overall umbrella for our three labels, which includes Clementine Carter and The Feminist Party. The Rhône varietals are dedicated to our Clementine Carter label. Our principal multi-varietal blend is The Feminist Party GSM, highlighting our collaborative drive.…
Camins 2 Dreams represents the routes and paths we follow to achieve our dreams. Camins 2 Dreams was founded in 2017. Our grapes are sourced from vineyards in Santa Barbara County with a focus in Sta. Rita Hills. Our philosophy is to make handcrafted, terroir-driven wines that are fermented with natural yeast and use minimal intervention in the winery, with only minimum amounts of SO2 at bottling. Our wines are also all unfined and unfiltered. We believe wine is made in the vineyard and we want to showcase the typicity of each site where the grapes come from. We source fruit from vineyards that share in the same values of respect for the land and their workers and works exclusively with organic, biodynamic, and SIP Certified vineyards with the goal for the next 2 years to purchase fruit from only organic, biodynamic or regenerative farming vineyards. We are a team of two winemakers, Mireia Taribó and Tara Gomez, wife and wife, whose paths first crossed in 2006 through our work in the wine industry. Our friendship grew through wine and travels, which also sparked our love. Our journey of friendship, love, and wine now continues as together we found our dream winery, Camins 2 Dreams.…
Ampelos is the Greek word for vine. Soil. Vines. Wines. This is the order in which great wine is made. Waking up from the dream is the real belief that a farmer must know his fruit, and we are resolute in our passion to produce hands-on, minimally invasive wines that both whisper and shout about the terroir from which they are grown. Our natural wines are from the 1st certified organic, biodynamic, and sustainable vineyard. Our commitment to eco-friendly, natural farming and winemaking is evident in every sip. Coming from a life of corporate toil, a canceled meeting in the first tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, opened our eyes to the fact that we could no longer put our dreams on hold. Our new lives began with 15 acres of Pinot Noir and Syrah in 2002, then 10 more acres in 2005. We approach winemaking with respect for traditional winemaking practices and openness to experimentation. We believe that the journey is the destination and prioritize creating quality wines sustainably. Sharing the literal fruits of this journey is what makes us excited to walk into the vineyard and winery each day.…
Founded in 2003 by vintners Jeff Morgan and the late Leslie Rudd, Covenant is a 9,000 square-foot urban winery in Berkeley, California producing 8,000 cases of wine per year. While the winery owns no vineyards of its own, it sources grapes from some 20 different wineries stretching up the California coast from Santa Barbara to Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Lake County and Lodi. The winery also produces a small amount of wine in Israel, sourced from the Galilee and Golan Heights. All vineyard sources are either bio-dynamic, organic or sustainably farmed. Vinification is with native yeast and native ML. The wines are not fined, and many are not filtered either. In this way founding winemaker Jeff Morgan strives to harness the truest nature of each wine’s provenance. Covenant produces some 20-plus wines that include Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast Syrah, Sonoma Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Lodi Viognier and Grenache rosé. Jeff Morgan’s wife Jodie and daughter Zoe work with him at the winery, as does winemaker Jonathan Hajdu, who has worked with Jeff for 20 years. Managing Director is Sagie Kleinlerer. Leslie Rudd passed away in 2018. Covenant brought in a new partner shortly thereafter: Geoff Rochwarger who lives in Israel. In case you’ve been wondering: Yes, all Covenant wines happen to be kosher (and vegan) too. They can be found in wine shops and restaurants throughout America, in Japan, Taiwan, Canada, London, Israel, Mexico, and Central and South America. The winery is open for tastings by appointment. In the spring and summer, an outdoor tasting patio hosts drop-in guests on weekend afternoons. Spring and summer Sundays also include concerts, sometimes performed by Jeff, whose previous careers included professional saxophone playing.…
Smith Story Wine Cellars is the tale of true love. In May of 2013, Eric and Ali eloped on the Big Island of Hawaii to say I Do; also where the name Smith Story Wine Cellars was conceived. Bay Area born Eric and Fort Worth, Texas native Alison met while both working for K&L Wine Merchants in Northern California over a decade ago. A friendship flourished while discovering wines from far away lands, and visits to the Anderson Valley along with dear friends and their beloved dogs Henley and Lakota. “Drink what you love, love what you drink,” Eric often said to Alison while trying new wines over the years together. Today they bring a combined 40+ years of wine industry experience to manage Smith Story Wine Cellars. Eric’s wine buying expertise and retail management lends a keen eye and discerning palate as he became the German, Loire, Alsace, Austrian and Greek wine buyer for K&L. Ali’s hospitality, wine buying, consumer marketing and national sales experience completes the entire wine-supply-chain as she transitioned from her decade old company TexaCali Wine Co. to drive the vision and brand for Smith Story Wine.Alison Smith, grew up in the DFW Metroplex and Northern California native Eric founded the winery in Sonoma County. Smith Story Wine Cellars is based in Sonoma. In late 2021 they relocated their tasting room from Philo, California (the Anderson Valley) to Healdsburg, California. In 2014 the launched "Farmers First" on Kickstarted and were fully funded in 30 days. Later that year, along with their dear Goldendoodle, Lord Sandwich, Ali Story founded a non-profit Socks For Sandwich, which donates new socks to the needy.…

Scott then ventured into the world of winemaking entrepreneurship, creating his first label in 1999, S.P. Drummer, a highly acclaimed Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon blend, then Rumpus in 2007, focusing on Sonoma Coast wines. He worked diligently, entering new markets and selling wine through distributors, which brought initial success, but proved to be very time consuming and taxing. In 2013, Angels funded Scott’s third label, Rox, then took on his other 2 brands a few years later. Because of your support, his career has taken off and flourished. Scott – who dubs himself a “one-man show” – now has three labels – Rumpus, Rox and S.P. Drummer – the latter which is a throwback to his drumming days in Williamsburg. Since his first internships in Sonoma County, Scott has studied Sonoma’s appellations and investigated the best sites for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, like Petaluma Gap, Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast. He’s also ventured into Napa Valley for Cabernet, Clarksburg for Petite Sirah and Tempranillo, and Argentina’s high-elevation vineyards for Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. With Angel support, Scott’s making a diverse range of wines – his mom’s favorite Sauvignon Blanc, four distinctive Chardonnays, Napa and Sonoma Cabernets, California Petite Sirah and Tempranillo – plus a collection of wines from Argentina. His wines are one of a kind, just the way he likes them.…

Idlewild was founded in 2012 by 4th generation vintner Sam Bilbro as a dream to produce varietals that originate in Italy's Piedmont in the hills of Northern California. That dream has grown faster than could have been imagined from less than 700 cases to 7000 cases in 10 years. The wines are made with respect for tradition and varietal using minimal intervention. Over the years, Idlewild has grown to manage Fox Hill Vineyards, Lost Hills Ranch (our estate vineyard), and Rancho Coda; a total of 160 acres have been converted to organic and regenerative practices and evolved to have a diverse selection of mainly Italian varietals at our direction.…

Founded by the noble family behind Champagne Taittinger, Claude Taittinger's search for a worthy U.S. counterpart began in the late 1970s. Wisely selecting Eileen Crane to oversee the development of the winery and vineyards, the team created the quintessential California expression of the Taittinger style in Carneros. The heart of Domaine Carneros has always been sparkling wines, with distinctive styles ranging from the classic vintage-dated Brut cuvée to our luxury Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs. In 1992 we added rich, complex Pinot Noir to our portfolio and our passion for sparkling and still wines continues to grow. “We’ve come a long way since our opening in 2000,” says Bill Wilson, founder and co-owner of Wilson Creek Winery. “And, while much has changed here at the winery and in the valley, our focus, our mission is exactly the same as when we first started.” That focus has paid off with Wilson Creek Wines winning prestigious awards. Wilson Creek’s Petite Sarah won “Best Red in the Valley,” at the annual Temecula Valley Winegrowers’ Association Awards. Wilson Creek is one of only a few wineries in Southern California to receive a 90-plus ratings for its wines from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Fairly new to Wilson Creek, our Library room offers a guided sit down wine tasting of these library wines that are not offered to the general public. Wilson Creek prides itself on offering a multi-dimensional wine experience. We welcome those new to wine and take them through a wine journey as they develop and expand their palate. We also focus on wine education. Wilson Creek is the only winery in the Temecula Valley that offers training to guests in all aspects of wine making through our Wine Academies. Our Winemaker and Vineyard Manager are professors at two area colleges. Wilson Creek Winery has also been active in the community since its inception. The winery has won Temecula Valley’s “Business of the Year” four times. The winery is involved with numerous charitable events each year raising thousands of dollars for charities One thing that won’t change at Wilson Creek it the commitment to family. Almost the entire Wilson family has been involved with the winery since the beginning. On any given day, you will find Matriarch Rosie Wilson with her dog perusing the grounds, or any number of Wilsons at work behind the scenes. “We started the business as a family project, and everyone pitched in from day one,” says Wilson. “Through the years it has become a tradition to treat our guests as our extended family and make family a big part of the Wilson Creek experience.” Like the fine wines it serves, Wilson Creek Winery keeps getting better with age.…
As a small winery we can put more time, attention, and care into our wines (than the larger wineries can afford to, really). So in order to make wines of the highest quality, we: 1. Select vineyards that are farmed with the greatest level of care. 2. Focus on single varietal and single vineyard. Single vineyard allows us to focus on "the place" the grapes are farmed and single varietal will show how each varietal is affected by that place (i.e. soil and microclimate). 3. Keep lots small. This provides the opportunity for gentle processing with minimal intervention. (This also grants us the freedom to have a little more fun with experimentation which, in theory, should result in more complex and interesting wines.) And finally, 4. (the most important) We put our hearts and souls into the making of this wine. It was my first harvest —interning in 2009—when my heart first fell in love. Picking Pinot Noir at the Santa Maria Gold Coast Vineyard before the sun came up. My fingers were freezing and for hours we picked and sorted. I listened closely that morning to the theories behind the growth and life of the vine. Being that connected to the earth was inspiring. Then, for three and a half years (2010-2013), I apprenticed at Sanguis, where I gained much more wine knowledge. Every decision and action, no matter how small they seemed, were of extreme importance to the outcome of the wine. The harvesting of grapes, all parts of the fermentation process (wether technical or artful), stirring of the lees, topping, racking...heck, even the stacking and lining up of barrels became a meditation of sorts. (Yes, by the way, this girl can operate a fork-lift.) And although times like re-coiling the hose over and over again might have seemed silly, it helped train me. I learned intention. My time there helped me grow an understanding and appreciation for meticulous dedication to detail and style. It was at Sanguis where I saved my pennies to journey out and buy my own fruit. In 2012, while working there, I made my first vintage and began learning on a deeper level. That path of my wine-making adventure was just starting. Today, utilizing what I was taught, it is my goal to continue working with remarkable vineyards. In discovering their nuances I hope to help guide each varietal to make a wine that will show a sense of place and style. And of course to always keep learning. Growing. Discovering. Thank you for joining me in this journey...…
The passion that exists within every bottle of Doffo wine originates from their Italian ancestors who immigrated to Argentina in the early 1900s. Marcelo’s grandfather, Bernandino, settled in Pampas, Argentina where he grew soybeans and corn and raised cattle. Marcelo grew up on that land, and it was there that his love and dedication to the art of cultivation began. As a young man, Marcelo immigrated to the United States and began a new life journey. In 1994 he visited the old country in the northern region of Turin, Italy and discovered that like every good Italian, his great uncle still made wine the old fashioned way in his basement. Marcelo returned home anxious to try his hand at winemaking, creating his first batches in his garage. By 1997 he had expanded his knowledge and developed his skills as a winemaker, and was awarded the silver medal from the Orange County Wine Society. This experience and honor sealed his fate. That same year he purchased an old cattle ranch in Temecula, California, complete with an historic one-room schoolhouse. The schoolhouse reminded him of a similar place he attended as a small child in Argentina. Starting with bare property, Marcelo painstakingly prepared the soil and installed trellises and irrigation lines by hand. He then planted his first vines of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah with a small percentage of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Four years later, Marcelo was proud to introduce his first wine, calling it “Mistura.” Marcelo’s philosophy has always been that good wine making begins in the vineyard. From hand-planting each vine to the meticulous daily attention, Marcelo, his son Damian, and their crew take great care to produce intensely rich fruit that truly expresses their commitment to making world class wine. Doffo Winery produces small batches of wine in comparison to many other wineries in Temecula Valley, and the attention to detail that this affords results in bold, complex wines.…

Brothers John and Steve Dragonette and close friend Brandon Sparks-Gillis founded Dragonette Cellars in 2005 after having worked together at a renowned wine shop in Los Angeles. Their shared passion for great wine brought them to wild, windy and remote northern Santa Barbara County where they spent the next several years seeking out extraordinary, cool-climate vineyards and dedicating themselves to careful, patient, minimalist winemaking. As vignerons, they have committed themselves, above all else, to the mindful farming of precise blocks in exceptional vineyards for low yields and high quality and to the shepherding of these grapes into wines of purity, complexity and balance. Given the remarkable climatic and soil diversity in Santa Barbara County, Dragonette Cellars produces small lots of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Syrah of interest and distinction.…
The Brander Vineyard, in the Los Olivos District AVA of Santa Barbara County, focuses on Bordeaux varieties. It was planted in 1975. The first wine was produced in 1977 and it was Sauvignon Blanc. Today, Brander releases approximately 6/8 different Sauvignon Blanc offerings in any given vintage. Brander Sauvignon Blancs are known to age well given their high acidity, balanced alcohol, and quality fruit. Brander also produces other Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Gris, and Semillon. Fabian and his wife also have their own small label, Casita de Bravo, currently producing around 350 cases.…
The journey in creating Giornata started with a dream to create wines from Italian grapes grown in California employing the sensibility and philosophy of Italian winemaking. We work with the same grape vines (clonal material) as the best producers in Italy. The Central Coast of California posseses many of the attributes of the top wine growing regions of Italy. Our winemaking style leans more Italian than Californian in that we favor wines with balance and subtlety rather than intensity and extraction. We pick our grapes at lower sugar levels and handle our must gently in the cellar, thus resulting in wines that belong on the Italian dinner table possesing both ample acidity and tannin. Traveling to Italy on a regular basis, we continue to receive feedback on our efforts while researching Italian winemaking and viticultural methods.…

âmevive Pronunciation: "ahm-veev" Translation: soulful, lively soul, living soul the emotional part of human nature; the seat of the feelings or sentiments. High-mindedness; noble warmth of feeling, spirit or courage. the principle of life, feeling, thought, and action in humans, regarded as a distinct entity and separate from the body; the spiritual part of humans as distinct from the physical part. Beyond regenerative organic and holistic vineyard using animal integration to grow healthy vines and delicious wines. We farm historic vines in Santa Barbara County and make energetically positive wines The 2021 growing season was a dream. Our weather was consistent with cool evenings and warm days. We had no significant heat spikes here in Santa Barbara County so the grapes were able to ripen steadily and evenly throughout the year. I think this translates into the wines. They are elegant and full of texture and flavor. I’m elated to introduce the four fall wines to you. Three of these wines are new to the âmevive line up, and one is an old favorite. These wines are the product of our second complete growing season tending the land at Ibarra-Young. They are energetic, soulful, and a piece of me. Although these four wines are delicious now, don’t be afraid to lay them down for a few years. I’m confident these wines will only get better for 10+ years. Lots of love, Alice…

The seeds for Patz & Hall were planted in the 1980s when assistant winemaker James Hall and national sales manager Donald Patz struck up a close friendship while working together at Flora Springs Winery and Vineyards. The two discovered a mutual enthusiasm for a rich and compelling style of wine made by applying traditional winemaking techniques to fruit from elite, small vineyards. Inspired to combine their winemaking and sales talents, James and Donald joined with partners Anne Moses and Heather Patz, to establish Patz & Hall. Together, they turned Patz & Hall into one of California’s most highly regarded wineries with a celebrated portfolio of single-vineyard wines. To achieve their goal of making exceptional limited-production wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the four founders each focused their specialized knowledge and expertise on different areas of the winery’s operations. This integrated approach, along with a commitment to developing close personal relationships with many of California’s finest growers—people like Larry Hyde, Lee Hudson and the Martinelli and Pisoni families—became the cornerstones of the winery’s success.…

We are a small wine brand named after an eclectic group of 1930s metropolitan refugees known as the Dunites who settled the beach dunes of San Luis Obispo county. This group proudly described themselves as a collection of free thinkers, artists, nudists, and poets. Together they shared meals, cohabited a mutual gathering place, philosophized, dissented, and generally allowed one another to live and express themselves freely outside of the cultural norms of the time. Dunites Wine Co. draws inspiration for this project from the remote beauty of the coastal dunes and the progressive ambition of the Dunites to aspire towards a clear goal; to produce pure and elegant wines that respect the coastal influence of vineyard sites located on the uplifted seafloor and ancient sand dunes of the SLO Coast. Combining diverse vineyard sites and meticulous farming with traditional techniques in the cellar allow for these small production wines to express the distinct characteristics of their sites. We are a husband - wife team who combine our experiences to craft these wines. Together we have worked for over a dozen wineries and vineyards around the world where the people, cultures, and wines have influenced our approach to growing and making wine. Rachel Eck holds a degree in Viticulture from Cal Poly SLO and gained experience working under iconic producers such as Stephen Ross, Paul Lato, and Te Kairanga. Rachel is a licensed Pest Control Advisor and manages our tasting room in downtown SLO. Tyler Eck followed a degree from UCSB with a Viticulture and Oenology degree from Lincoln University in New Zealand. His travels led to working for several pioneering wineries including Dry River, Peay Vineyards, Stefano Lubiana, and Domaine Francois Villard. Since 2014 Tyler has been the Associate Winemaker for Fess Parker Winery. We live in Pismo Beach, with our black lab Cassidy, where we are only a few miles drive from the vineyards we work with.…

Established in 1982, Etude was founded on the philosophy that winemaking begins in the vineyard, long before harvest, and that superior grape growing allows our winemakers to craft wines of exceptional varietal expression and finesse. This ethos remains unwavering as the winery continues to build upon its established legacy of exemplary Pinot Noir. The integration of this tenet allows for the continual cultivation of the highest-quality wines, reflective of the profound influences of the land and the seasons, as well as the hand of its stewards. Etude, which in French means “study,” specializes in a selection of aromatic whites and classical red varietals, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Though modeled after the best in Burgundy, Bordeaux and Alsace, these wines clearly speak to their New World origins, offering rich, concentrated fruit with elegant structure and an opulent mouthfeel for the reds, and lifted, delicate fruit with vibrant acidity and freshness for the whites. Our Estate Pinot Noirs, including a highly esteemed bottling made from rare heirloom selections and two single-vineyard offerings, are vinified from grapes grown on the Etude estate vineyards at Grace Benoist Ranch, nestled in the cool Carneros region. Other wines derived from our estate vineyards at Grace Benoist Ranch include our white wine selections of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. The fruit for our Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from superlative terroirs within the districts of Oakville, Rutherford and Coombsville, as part of the greater Napa Valley landscape.…
Foxen is named in memory of William Benjamin Foxen, an English sea captain and our co-founder Dick Doré's great-great-grandfather, who came to Santa Barbara in the early 1800s. In 1837 this Santa Barbara County pioneer purchased Rancho Tinaquaic, a Mexican land grant that originally totaled nearly 9,000 acres and comprised most of what is now known as Foxen Canyon. Captain Foxen adopted the distinctice "anchor" as his ranch cattle brand, and the winery has adopted it as our trademarked brand. It is very fitting that Foxen has made its home on the 2,000-acre Rancho Tinaquaic, which remains in family hands. Foxen's first vintage was in 1985, made in the old blacksmith shop on the ranch. This building, now known fondly as "The Shack", and the accompanying barn were Foxen's winery and tasting room for over 20 years. With the completion of Foxen's solar-powered winery and tasting room in 2009, the historic and beloved "Shack" was renamed foxen 7200, where we feature our Bordeaux and Italian varieties under a brand of the same name. Our Burgundy, Rhône, and Loire varieties are showcased in the solar-powered FOXEN tasting room just down the road. Our co-founders Billy and Dick, the "Foxen Boys", invite you to visit Foxen to taste our wines and experience the bucolic setting of Foxen Canyon and Rancho Tinaquaic. Once here, you'll understand why many say, "If you don't know Foxen, you don't know Dick...or Bill!"…
While on a Robert Mondavi (Byron Winery) trip to Burgundy France Mike and Cheri got marrried. They started the winery in 1997. In 2013 They aquired the Bassi Vineyard near Avila Beach CA. In 2019 their son Tomas started traveling to train with other winemakers. If its not harvest he is helping Mike out at the winery. We specialize in wines grown 1.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean at our estate Bassi Vineyard near Avila Beach, in the heart of the San Luis Obispo wine country. Our wines naturally reflect their pronounced coastal terroir, as well as the impassioned viticultural handwork that we bring to our vines and soils. The effect of these elements is highly local and personal—the hallmarks of Sinor-LaVallee. Mike Sinor has always been a grinder, a way of life he learned at a young age while working in his father’s auto wrecking yard. He brought that mentality to his first wine harvest in 1993 and never looked back. Through grit and determination, and without formal training, he ultimately became one of the Central Coast’s most decorated winemakers. In 2013, Mike and Cheri put everything on the line to acquire the ocean-view Bassi Vineyard near Avila Beach. It was the destination they’d always been seeking—a singular vineyard that they could steward with holistic and meticulous viticulture. The estate wines of Sinor-LaVallee are the outcome of this journey, and an emblem of this place.…
The Hossfeld site is 20-acres of grapevines with 8 unique blocks, each with a different exposure. Our farming is done in house so we can control quality and quantity. We put our Hossfeld culture in agriculture, respecting the synergy of nature and sustainable farming with undeveloped meadows, insectaries and native forest. Our goal is to respect the local biodiversity and create a balance between native flora and fauna and the vineyard, so we can farm in harmony. As stewards of this unique piece of land, we are organically certified and look forward to farming it for generations to come. Founded in 1981 by Henry and Susan Hossfeld, this mountain top lay wild and overgrown with native flora and fauna, with lots and lots of poison oak. The afternoon breeze, pure bedrock soil and incredible location seemed sure to grow premium hillside grapes. Our site is rocky, so much so our parents had to use dynamite to fragment the rock to create each individual plant hole and to sculpt the hillside into our signature rocky terraces. They would drive their VW Rabbit to the neighboring county to buy blasting caps, gunpowder and dynamite sticks to set off on the weekends whilst maintaining their full-time jobs. With a clear vision, trash can lids as helmets and a passion to become grape growers, our parents created one of the most extreme mountain terraced vineyards. We are blessed to make our wine from our estate site, which focuses our vision and allows meticulous control over every step of the wine's growing and making. Our winemaking goal is to allow the power and the beauty of the Hossfeld site to continue through to the wine. We get full extraction of flavor from the grapes and along with the vineyard's retention of acidity, we are able to achieve ripeness without saturation. We strive to make wines that are concentrated while maintaining balance. With a limitation of sulfur and an intention towards ageing, our wines are composed of mountain tannin, robust fruit and a finish as long as the view. Hossfeld Vineyards is: Lucia Hossfeld, Hayley Hossfeld and Chad McComber…

The Spanish phrase, si se puede—yes, you can—signifies one’s ability to accomplish anything with passion, persistence and determination. Rolando and Lorena Herrera, owners of Napa Valley’s Mi Sueo Winery (Spanish for ‘My Dream’) live this motto. The inspirational tale of Mi Sueño is both a love story and the story of the American dream realized, one that came to fruition for Mexican immigrant Rolando Herrera as a result of hard work, raw talent, and the support of a strong community of mentors who led him along a path to success. Along with his wife, Lorena, whose family has deep roots in Napa and Sonoma counties as grape growers, the two founded Mi Sueño Winery in 1997, the year of their marriage. Rolando started his career in the Napa Valley in 1982 as a modest dishwasher at the exclusive Auberge du Soleil restaurant. Over the span of 15 years, his resume of employers began to read like the who’s who of the Napa Valley—from the legendary Warren Winiarski, founder of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, to winemaking great Paul Hobbs. Each experience was an opportunity to learn more, and with every move Rolando harnessed his work ethic with his love of farming and wine. Together, Rolando and Lorena have built their dream winery with love, passion, and a deep understanding of the art of growing exceptional grapes and crafting award-winning wines that are rich in character and elegance. As Rolando says, ‘‘farming and making wine is not science, it’s experience.” And experience he has. For more than 20 years Mi Sueño Winery has not only represented a “dream come true” for the Herreras, but has also come to be recognized as one of the great independently owned and operated wine producers in California. Growing up in a rural area of Mexico, Rolando learned to work the land and respect farming. His grandparents had a six hectare (14.8 acres) farm where they grew corn, wheat, pumpkins, squash, and many other vegetables, which they sold for their family's living. He remembers complaining about the hour long walk up a rocky mountain to the family's ejido (a communal farm). This is where Rolando's abuela (grandmother) told him she grew her best crops for the family's consumption. Rolando tasted the crops from the various sites and knew his grandmother was right. This lesson he would remember later in life, as it was his first lesson about terroir. Rolando was just eight years old when his family moved from El Llano in the Michoacán state to Northern California in 1975. His father saw an opportunity, like so many immigrants before and after him, to better his future through hard work and a willingness to sacrifice his greatest values—his home, his extended family, and his culture. After five years, in 1980, his family returned to Mexico, but Rolando dreamed of living in Northern California. He recalls riding bikes through grape pomace and learning how to plant and nurture seedlings and small plants. He also knew that his chances for a great education were better in California, and he begged his father to let him go back. When Rolando turned 15, he fearlessly returned to Napa Valley with his brother, determined to make something of himself in the United States, against all odds and adversity. Without the financial support of their family or a clear plan, they lived in a plant nursery in the beginning and Rolando picked up multiple jobs to support himself while he finished high school. He worked nights as a dishwasher at Auberge du Soleil and at Cindy Pawlcyn's seminal Napa Valley restaurant, Mustards Grill, where he graduated to line cook. Although he enjoyed restaurant work, he longed to return to his rural roots and work outdoors.…
Welcome to our family owned and operated winery and vineyard. Although we are 4th generation grape growers, our story is only just beginning. We are honored to welcome you to our family and are confident that you will enjoy the wine that we pour our heart into. Our ranch is located in the heart of Suisun Valley, California. We currently grow and maintain 7 different varietals of grapes, including: Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdellho, Charbono, and Cabernet Sauvignon. All of which are managed and cared for by our winemaker, Brian Babcock, and his team of vineyard workers. We have owned our ranch for over 35 years. When Brian's father, Howard, purchased the property, it was planted with cherry, prune and pear trees. These orchards were cared for by our family. Brian, his sister, and parents harvested the fruit and sold it at our family's fruit stand. Years later, the orchards were replanted with vineyards. Many of which we still work today. Over the years, new varieties have been added to make up what we currently grow.…

Mangels Vineyards is dedicated to making premium wines from selected varietals grown in the Suisun Valley. We strive for quality and enhancing the characteristics of each varietal when producing our small lots. The Mangels family is continuing the tradition of winemaking in the Suisun Valley started by their great grandfather over 100 years ago. Louis Mangels arrived in New York City in 1866 with his parents. At 14 years of age he had just emigrated from Germany and immediately left for the West Coast, by way of Panama. There was a distant connection to the Spreckles, another German family that was already experiencing financial success in San Francisco. They arrived on June 22, 1866. During the next ten years, through the Spreckles connection, Louis learned to be a cooper. He also studied and saved enough money to buy 240 acres of land in 1876. He planted grape vines. By the following year, Claus Mangels was born to the Louis Mangels family. Thirteen years later, in 1889, Louis expanded his operation when he purchased the inventory of the Schultz Brothers Winery. He continued working the ranch; and by 1893, Louis Mangels decided that it was time to build his first wine cellar. Solano Winery went on to become one of the largest producing wineries in the state of California. By 1906, the Mangels winery was producing 500,000 gallons of wine a year. Just the year before, Louis's son Claus married Celia Rohwer. The family then took another interesting road to expansion. In 1910, Louis Mangels brought his two oldest sons into a business partnership, naming the company L. Mangels and Sons. By 1920, Prohibition hit the United States, with L. Mangels and Sons being one of seven wineries allowed to continue to legally produce wine for the government. A lot of the tonnage was shipped to the East Coast, to large eastern markets. Within a year, Claus Mangels became sole proprietor. When it became unprofitable to ship grapes to the East Coast, a partnership with the Colonial Grape Products Company was formed. This entity became known as the Solano Grape Products Company. By 1932, the Solano Grape Products Company was incorporated under the name of Solano Winery. After Prohibition in 1933, the government began to bond wineries. "Solano Winery" became Bonded Winery Number 42. Claus planted more vineyards and leased another 153 acres with a Bonzi Vineyard at Monticello, in Napa County. After the repeal, the Solano Winery's wine cellar was well stocked with many products, including both aged (fortified) sweet and dry wines. The building and cooperage were rented from Claus Mangels. Wine sales were brisk, especially the Solano Winery "house" brand. This led to the selection of its own name, which became "Chief Solano." Other successful brands were Cordelia, Solano, and C. R. Mangels. In just two years, the market for the Mangels wines had spread over the nation and to foreign lands. In 1936, Claus Mangels purchased the stock formerly held by the Colonial Grape Products Company, which gave him 97 percent of the stock held in the company. One year later, Solano Winery was producing 350,000 gallons of wine a year, crushing nearly all of the grapes in Suisun Valley. By 1943, faced with the need to renovate and upgrade the winery, Claus Mangels decided to sell Solano Winery to Horace O. Lanza of Sunnyside Winery. Current production at that time was between 450,000 and 500,000 gallons of wine a year. Horace O. Lanza was an official of the California Grape Products Company of San Francisco, and had been a business partner for six years during prohibition. With the sale, however, Claus maintained his home, vineyards, and other property. By 1950, the winery was no longer in operation. Claus passed away in 1950, and his son Lewis inherited the property. Lewis expanded the livestock operation while continuing to grow grapes for the Sebastiani Winery and Christian Brothers. In 1973, Gary Mangels joined his father Lewis in the family ranching business. In 1988, Gary purchased land that would eventually become Mangels Vineyards. He planted his first vines in 1991. Over time Gary has learned which varieties are best suited for his location in Suisun Valley. In 2009, Gary and winemaker Gina Richmond founded Mangels Vineyards. Presently, they are producing premium varietals from Mangels Vineyards, Suisun Valley.…
We are a small winery focusing on unique vineyards and varietals across the AVA (sub-AVAs) of Lodi that represent the diversity of the region as well as, creating wines of lighter expressions and naturally balanced. We purchased the Alpine road property in 2012 to be our home, our winery, and started the process to transform a traditionally farmed Cabernet Sauvignon to one more balanced and ecologically diverse. While our endeavors on 10 acres do not shift the AVA's, state’s, or world’s opinion, in a gentle way, we start by changing ourselves. As mentioned, we set out to be ecologically balanced. What does that mean to us? Where possible an environmentally balanced farm plan was created to reduce our reliance on chemical fertilizers (and pest control), as well as reduce resources and lower what ends up in landfills. Each year we learn more and put into practice our stewardship ideas. We raise chickens for their eggs and as a natural pest control. We practice organic farming and don't till, instead we have cover crops of native grasses, grains, crimson clover, California poppy, and other plants that enhance the organic composition of the soil. Using a no till approach we create a habitat for beneficial insects, provide a greater carbon capture potiental, and keep dust out of the air; benefiting air quality throughout the valley. Along with recycling and green waste programs, our aim is to minimise the winery's resource footprint. Phase one of our solar project was completed in 2017 with a 12 kW system supporting the winery’s main building. A future phase two is planned for the covered multi-use area that will add a second system, effectively doubling our solar capabilities to 24 kW, moving us from neutral-ish to a producer. We are also exploring how to incorporate processes of organic and regenerative agricultural into our approaches found in permaculture practices, no-till farming, cover crops, food-scaping, fostering pollinators and native plants, and wildlife.…
Tolenas Winery is a family-owned and operated vineyard and winery committed to producing high quality wines that speak to the terrior of Suisun Valley, California. Founded by Lisa and Cliff Howard in 2015, Tolenas Winery is the next chapter of a family legacy that can be traced back to over 40 years ago. Lisa’s family has lived in Suisun Valley since 1982. After moving to the area, her parents, Steve and Linda Tenbrink, began farming and eventually started their own winery, Tenbrink Winery and Vineyards. Those early years on her parents’ farm were foundational in shaping the winemaking philosophy Lisa and Cliff would later adopt. In 2010, 55 acres of prunes, wine grapes, and almonds went up for sale in Suisun Valley. Though Lisa and Cliff were living in Arizona at the time, they both jumped at the opportunity to leave a good life for a great life and move back to Lisa’s hometown to embark on their wine industry journey. With the help and guidance of Lisa’s family, the couple became self-taught winemakers ready to launch their own winery. Since those early days, Lisa and Cliff have transitioned all 55 acres of their property to growing wine grapes and have expanded from producing 96 cases a year to more than 1,000 cases. Today, Lisa and Cliff are proud second-generation winemakers on a mission to produce wines as naturally as possible while maintaining the quality and regionality. They are committed to protecting the land and preserving the integrity of their wines. This includes taking a more hands-on approach and abstaining from disturbing the vines with chemicals or unnecessary additives. The name for the winery’s label was born after Lisa found an old deed that listed the 55-acre property as Lot #38 of Rancho Tolenas, the Mexican land grant that spanned Solano and Napa Counties in the 1800s. The name is an homage to the pioneer spirit and history of the Suisun Valley. It also speaks to Lisa and Cliff’s goals of continuing to grow Tolenas Winery into a California wine industry pioneer. Over the course of the last five years, Tolenas Winery has focused on perfecting the quality of its exclusive family of wines. This list includes premium wines like a Suisun Valley Red Blend, Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, and the Eclipse, a white pinot noir that won a gold medal at the International Women’s Wine Competition. In the future, the company hopes to add a sparkling wine to this list and a tasting room to the property as well.…

Our winery was founded in 1989 by my mother, Martha Bannister. It was one of the first female owned wineries in the United States. My mom was the winemaker until 2013 when she had to retire because of complications from Lyme disease. I changed careers then to keep the family label going. I continued to make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel, which had been my mom's favorites, but also added skin fermented Riesling, Scheurebe and a sagneé rose. We only produce about one thousand cases per vintage, with a focus on working with unique vineyards for traditional and non-traditional varietals.…
We focus on the winegrapes of Italy, for the simple reason that both our climate and our latitude are virtually indistinguishable from that of the Mediterranean. We farm Biodynamically, and make our wines completely naturally. Our core philosophy is summed up in our mantra: "Grow what belongs here. Be patient." We got our start over 30 years ago when we imported olive trees from an 800-year-old grove outside the walled city of Lucca, in Tuscany. We were pioneers in the revival of the California olive oil industry, and our oil is considered one of the best in the world.…
In 2019 Markus and Liz Bokisch celebrated 20 years of making award winning Spanish wines at Bokisch Vineyards. Markus pioneered the planting of Spanish varieties in California by bringing over budwood from Spain and planting it in Lodi soil in 1999. Inspired by his Catalan heritage and driven by a passion for organic and sustainable farming, he became one the most prominent grape growers and authorities on Spanish grapes in all of the United States. Markus Bokisch has also drawn attention to the diversity and uniqueness of Lodi wine country by spearheading the committee to create the 7 Lodi sub AVA’s. Bokisch Vineyards produces wine from 5 of those 7 AVA’s, continuing Markus’s passion to showcase the uniqueness of the Lodi growing regions. In 2000 they made their first vintage of Bokisch wine and have continued to grow their Spanish wine portfolio ever since. Bokisch Vineyards is now producing 11 bottlings of 7 different Spanish varieties across 6 different vineyards. Featuring Albariño, Garnacha Blanca, Verdejo, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Monastrell, and Graciano. In December of 2018, Markus and Bokisch Vineyards was featured in Wine Spectator, highlighting Markus’s vision for Spanish wines and wines made in Lodi. In 2014 they moved into a brand new winery facility located in the rolling hills of Lodi, and hired their winemaker Elyse Perry, giving them full control - grape to glass. For all of these reasons and more, Bokisch Vineyards has been a leading force in establishing Lodi as a destination for wine lovers. Their tasting room is located in the oak studded rolling hills of eastern Lodi and is known for the fantastic views, delicious wines, picnic areas and fire pits. Wine Club members are treated to 4 exclusive events per year which are themed to match each new wine release. Liz Bokisch uses her exquisite culinary skills to create specific recipes to pair with the wines. Bokisch Vineyards is also making hand crafted, small lot wines from other varieties under their Tizona label. Showcasing the skills of their winemaker Elyse Perry, they produce an additional 8 vineyard designated wines including Malbec, Old Vine Carignane, Syrah, and Picpoul.…

Unti Vineyards is a small, family-owned and operated winery specializing in Mediterranean style wines with vineyard personality. The winery, established in 1997, produces small lots of estate grown Barbera, Grenache, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Syrah and Zinfandel. We also produce a dry Rose from Grenache and Mourvedre and a handful of white wines: Vermentino, Fiano, and Grenache Blanc. The winemaking involves using traditional methods which enhance and support an ability to make wines with a sense of place. We use artisan winemaking methods to enhance and support our ability to make wines with a sense of place, such as fermenting and aging 45 to 60 different small batches of wine each year, using whole clusters in our Rhone varietal ferments, using a variety of fermenting and aging vessels including stainless steel, concrete tanks, large French oak ovals and small French oak barrels. We have 60 acres of vineyards here in Dry Creek Valley, which is the sole source for all our wines. We approach our vineyards and winemaking as wine enthusiasts, particularly the wines from Italy, Southern France and Spain. California, and specifically Dry Creek Valley has a similar climate the above regions. This explains for why we have chosen to cultivate noble wine grapes, native to these Mediterranean regions contrary to many Dry Creek Wineries. One man’s crazy is another one’s sanity.…
Somerston Estate is a 1,682-acre winery estate, hidden high in the eastern Vaca Mountains of Napa Valley. Under the leadership of Co-Founder Craig Becker, who oversees winemaking and farming, Somerston is managed with the singular, long-term vision of combining two historic vineyard sites into one of Napa Valley’s greatest estates. The original Priest Ranch estate was established in 1869 by James Joshua Priest, a gold rush prospector. Nearly a century and a half later, in 2004 three families purchased the historic 660-acre property. In 2006, they purchased the neighboring 955-acre Elder Valley, which together formed the Somerston Estate. In 2020, an additional 67 acres of the original Priest Ranch estate was acquired, bringing the estate’s total size to 1,682 acres. Today, the 1,682-acre Somerston Estate is home to 244 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards with 180 unique vineyard blocks and 15 distinct sites. From this property comes two highly rated brands, Somerston and Priest Ranch. Somerston wines represent distinctive block designated wines, while Priest Ranch wines are a blend of fruit from multiple vineyard blocks throughout the estate. In addition, Somerston has long been a fruit source for some of Napa’s most renowned producers.…
Founded in 2011, brick & mortar focuses on single-vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, from select high-elevation Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino vineyards. Since our beginning, we have expanded our production, adding methode champenoise sparkling, vin pétillant-style rosé, and a successful line of canned wines. Our wines are elegant, balanced, and food-friendly. Like the great European wineries, we believe that the best wines express a unique time and place. So we let each of our distinct Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Mendocino Ridge vineyards speak for themselves, with minimal intervention. We pick early, ferment with native yeasts, and use oak and sulfur judiciously, resulting in low-alcohol wines of grace and finesse.…
Lambert Bridge Winery is truly a magical place. With our soaring redwood barrel room and incredible gardens set against the backdrop of redwood trees, the winery has come to define luxury and elegance through our “less is more” philosophy. We are a family owned winery handcrafting limited production, artisanal wines within the Dry Creek Valley of Healdsburg, California. The C.L. Lambert Family settled in the Dry Creek Valley a century ago. Jerry Lambert, of no relation, was drawn to our property six decades later with world-class winemaking in mind. Jerry founded the winery in 1975 and it grew rapidly producing more than 25,000 cases a year. In 1993, Patti and Ray Chambers discovered this rustic stretch of Dry Creek Valley and fell completely in love and decided to make the winery their own. After they purchased the property, Patti asked an important question: why not do more with less? Since then, we’ve pared back production to roughly 8,000 cases a year, growing and sourcing Sonoma County’s finest fruit along the way.The Chambers Family vision was heartfelt and enduring from the start: honor this idyllic land, farm and craft Sonoma’s finest small-lot wines, and create an inspiring place to relish wine, food, and friendship. Our approach to winemaking is straightforward and relentless: chase excellence in every detail. By keeping production small and standards incredibly high, we make no compromise and spare no expense. The result is a portfolio of world class, Bordeaux inspired wines that capture the essence of the vineyard and vintage, year after year. We continue to curate and cultivate a special community which seeks connection and self-expression through distinctive, engaging and enriching luxury wine experiences.…
We started our Acquiesce venture late in life. After years of living a corporate lifestyle, raising 3 boys and relocating to 5 different states plus living in Europe for a while, we found a peaceful home on an 18 acre property with a vineyard and 100 year old barn. While living in Portland, Oregon, Rodney having just traveled through 10 countries in 10 days was listening to K.D. Lang’s “Acquiesce” and said, “One day, we are going to have a property and we’ll call it Acquiesce” . . . oh really? Where will this property be? “I don’t know, but we’ll be surrounded by land, watch the sunrise and sunset and we’ll be very happy there.” And here we are, living a great life, making world class wines and “surrendering” to the vines.…
Doug and Katsuko Sparks started their winemaking journey as home winemakers in their garage in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset District. In 1997, having completed winemaking courses at UC Davis, Doug and Katsuko took their winemaking hobby commercial and made their first vintage of Sunset Cellars at a shared facility inside Rosenblum Winery in Alameda. Over the years they built long-lasting relationships with some top growers such as the Teldeschi family in Dry Creek Valley and Wirth Ranch in Solano County Green Valley. Many of these are old vine Zinfandel vineyards, with many vines over 90 years old. Working with such precious fruit, Doug and Katsuko’s goal has been to create supple red wines that emphasize the grapes’ natural fruit flavors. They like to call their red wine approach “Zen Zin,” a minimalist winemaking style that allows the wines to express the flavors and characteristics created in the vineyards.…

In 1992, we were captivated by the view (hence Notre Vue), as we stood atop a ridge overlooking 710 acres of breathtaking, rolling hills of Sonoma County countryside. This incredible landscape forged over eons would one day fulfill our vision as the Notre Vue Estate. We have established an agrarian heritage through thoughtful determination. The estate vineyards are tenderly cared for and are the foundation for our wines that are made with low intervention techniques and from the 16 varietals grown on the property which straddles both the Russian River and Chalk Hills AVA's. Preserving the natural beauty of the land has always been at the heart of our vision. For this reason, the estate includes 350 acres of protected open space land, preserving the beauty of Notre Vue Estate for generations to come. This synergy creates a harmony that supports the abundant wildlife as well as the natural flora and fauna.…

Calla Lily Estate was founded in 2013 by Anthony Fung and Andy Chui, who came to ‘winemaker extraordinaire’ Cary Gott to create an elegant portfolio of wines around the imagery of the calla lily, a flower of enormous beauty and refinement. The guiding principle was to be an artisanal, low-production project. The 95 acre Calla Lily estate vineyard sits in the heart of Pope Valley, on the eastern hillside of Napa County. At an elevation of over 800 feet, the vineyard’s climate is cooler than the Valley floor and produces small, intensely-flavored grapes with finely structured tannins and complex aromatics. The first vines were planted in 1995. The estate vineyard consists of 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, 5 acres of Petite Sirah and 1 acre each of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Verdot. The gently contoured vineyard slopes provide ideal conditions for the grapes. The contours also serve as natural protection for frost in winter and extreme heat in summer. The soils predominantly belong to the Bressa-Dibble complex—well-drained, composed of fine-grained sandstone and shale. There are two natural reservoirs, a graceful garden and a number of historic buildings which give the property a unique personality. The winemaking begins in the hillside vineyards, with extensive hands-on work with the vines. When harvesting, we make several passes through the vineyard, picking and sorting for ideal ripeness. We cold-soak our berries before fermentation. We choose very specific yeasts to maximize the nuances of that year’s harvest. We believe in pursuing very exacting standards, which insure that our wines are as distinctive and elegant as possible, offering a deliciously balanced taste of our unique terroir in the Napa Valley. The winery produces two Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines: Ultimate Cabernet Sauvignon and Audax.…
For my history, I started in the wine business in 1994 working in the cellar for Sebastiani in Lodi, after 3 years I went to work at Gnekow Winery spending 4 years working just about every position in the winery from the cellar to the lab and finally sales. I left Gnekow and went to work for Michael David winery where I was the West Coast Director of Marketing. After 2 years I had the itch to be self employed and started a small business etching and painting large wine bottles, 2 years later I sold it to an employee and started a packaging design studio specializing in wine labels. After 10 years, I was ready to work with my hands again and in 2010 Choral and I started Jeremy Wine Co. As for the future, we're very excited as we've just signed a lease purchase agreement on an existing winery outside of Lodi that greatly expands our capacity for production and hospitality but also includes a beautiful Old Zinfandel vineyard planted in the 1930's. It's a major thing for us to finally land at a permanent home for our winery.…
At Harney Lane Winery, we believe great wine begins in the vineyard. After over 100 years of farming wine grapes, our family ventured into winemaking in 2006, while still overseeing all aspects of our fifth-generation farming operations. Using only the best quality fruit from our estate vineyards, we continue to vigilantly work the land on our home ranch, creating award-winning Lodi wines. From planting and tending the grapes each season, to harvest, crush and bottling, we approach winemaking with the same diligence we use in our Certified Green, sustainably farmed vineyards. Located in Lodi’s Mokelumne River AVA, our fruit is hand packed, hand sorted, fermented in small lots and barrel aged in programs unique to each of our wines. Harney Lane’s portfolio features a diverse array of estate wine, including Old Vine Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Albariño, Chardonnay, Dry Rosè, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more. Our Lodi roots run deep: we’re proud caretakers of our Lizzy James Vineyard, a Certified Historic Vineyard planted in 1904. Our family still lives and works on the same property we farm today, and we continue to craft wines with integrity and craftsmanship. Recognized by USA Today for having one of the best winery tours, we invite you to come experience what we’ve spent generations working towards.…

GRO Wines is the brand of seasoned winemakers Lars Bjorkman and Molly Hill. GRO means ‘to germinate’ in Swedish. The brand ties Lars’ Swedish influence about site—picking blueberries, mushrooms and crayfish from the area his family founded in Sweden had a huge impact on his formative years and how he understood site—to Lars’ knowledge about Napa Valley terroir. Being winemakers, Lars and Molly pull fruit from the best ‘insider’ sites, mini archipelagos within the larger Napa Valley appellation. All wines are from single vineyard locations.Lars is the long-time associate winemaker for Saddleback Cellars and the winemaker for Casa Nuestra, in addition to having several other projects around the valley. Lars grew up in Fresno, in the heart of central valley agriculture. He graduated with a degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis. Molly is the long-time winemaker for Sequoia Grove Winery. As a fourth generation Californian, her family has long agriculture ties to the area and she grew up in Summerland, California, surrounded by avocados and lemons. Also a graduate of UC Davis’ program of Viticulture and Enology, she and Lars raise their two children in their mid-century home in Calistoga, California.…
The idea to create Nenow Family Wines came about in mid-2014 after Mike and Tracie Roesbery welcomed their second child into the world. They were sitting in the hospital room with Tracie’s younger brother, Drew Nenow, chatting about their dreams for the future and enjoying time with the newest member of the family. A love of wine runs deep in this family and the conversation shifted to talking about the possibility of one day coming together and starting their own label. Through the support from many family members, countless brainstorming sessions and a ton of hard work, in 2017 the family purchased their first grapes. Through Nenow Family Wines, the Roesberys and the Nenows have a desire to create a legacy for their families and to always remain committed to produce unique wine based on quality, care and love – which is what you will experience with each bottle you enjoy. The business model is simple. Do what they love and make really good wine! The family is committed to sourcing from vineyards that are dedicated to farming their grapes with quality and care, rather than quantity. From there, winemaker Drew Nenow focuses on using the truth of the fruit to create a wine they are proud of! In the Fall of 2020, they opened Nenow Family Wines Tasting Room located along Paso Robles’ Westside Peachy Canyon Wine Trail, which features a charming, laid back outdoor setting surrounded by rolling hillside vineyards. The tasting room offers guests a firsthand opportunity to sample and purchase wines from the Nenow Family Wines’ portfolio of limited production, thoughtfully sourced Rhone-style wines from Paso Robles and Santa Barbara County. Most recently, they released their inaugural 2020 Rosé of Grenache made in a Provencal style and sourced from Paso’s Adelaida District.…

After MIT, she moved to California and continued business school at the University of California Berkeley. During her studies, she realized the opportunities in the United States for both starting a career and raising children in a healthy environment. Recognizing the potential of the up and coming wine region nearby, Delia soon set her sights on purchasing land in the Napa Valley and subsequently plunged into the wine business in the early 1980s. With an initial loan from her father, Engr. Walter Viader, she acquired their Howell Mountain property and set out to create a world class wine estate. Delia continued learning about winemaking through programs in Enology and Viticulture offered at University of California, Davis to better learn the practical theory behind making fine wine. All while raising four children on her own, Delia forged the vision and design for this unique estate vineyard property, wine blend and brand. Delia’s story illustrates the importance of education and understanding coupled with following one’s instincts. The Viader®estate and Delia’s wines have consistently reflected these strengths. As a leader within the local wine community, Delia contributes her perspective and industry experience to the Napa Valley Vintners and California Wine Institute where she currently serves on the Board for both organizations. Her history with the Napa Valley Vintners dates as far back as 1990 where she and a select group of local vintner leaders helped frame the organization’s strategic plan. Since then, Delia has helped spearhead Premiere Napa Valley – an annual grand tasting and futures trade auction that consistently raises more than $4 million each year, and has also contributed to Auction Napa Valley in various roles, spending a decade as part of the beneficiary vetting committee and helping to set the focus and parameters that would determine adjudication of funds. Alan spent his childhood on his family’s vineyard estate on Howell Mountain. His early education in wine and formal schooling helped shape his respect for terroir-driven wines, organic farming, and diverse viticultural practices from around the world. He started working in the family vineyards at the age of nine and continued to help throughout his childhood, including working as cellarhand in the caves at Viader After high school, he pursued his passion for grape growing with a hands-on program in Sonoma where he received a degree in Viticulture Management. In 2002, Alan officially stepped in as Vineyard Manager for Viader in 2002, while simultaneously continuing his education at UC Davis, where he learned the fundamentals in winemaking. In 2005, Alan worked a harvest at Achavel-Ferrer winery in Mendoza, Argentina, which convinced him that winemaking was his calling. Alan officially stepped in as lead winemaker for Viader® in 2006. Today, he continues to oversee vineyard management operations while working in all areas of wine production together with his mother, Delia at Viader An avid adventurer and seasoned traveler, Alan continues to visit the world’s best wine producers and wine growing regions throughout Argentina, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany and France. In 2013, he went to the University of Sciences Agro to study viticulture in Bordeaux, France.A hands-on experimentalist and eternal student of the vine, Alan has been at the forefront of trialing and adopting the right combination of organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices, not to mention new technology integrations that optimally benefit the quality of Viader wines. In the cellar, Alan has been equally fervent about delivering better quality results, experimenting with different blends, yeasts, fermentations, barreling, etc., always open to new ideas, trials and opportunities to responsibly deliver improved quality wines. As the right-hand to his mother & founder, Delia Viader, Alan oversees Viader production from start to finish. When we purchased Alegría Vineyards In 1990, Bill was able to pursue his childhood dream of being a farmer, trading in his law books for books on viticulture, pruning shears, and a tractor. “Alegría”, our vineyard name, means “Happiness” in Spanish. Bill is much happier working in the vineyard and making wine than he was working as a lawyer. He likes working with his hands and being outdoors. He knows every vine on our 32 acres and takes pleasure in making a physical product that people can enjoy and appreciate. As he often says, he never got such positive feedback for well-crafted legislation or a contract. “Alegría” is also an apt description of how you will feel when you discover our wines. Betsy makes visiting ACORN Winery is a memorable experience. Betsy enjoys welcoming visitors and sharing our wines and our story. We are passionate about preserving the tradition of field-blending and co-fermenting. The oldest part of our vineyard, which dates back to 1890, is a field blend of Zinfandel inter-planted with Alicante Bouschet, Petite Sirah, and many other grape varieties. That mixed planting inspired us to plant about 100 different varieties as we planted new vineyards adjacent to the old. As far as we know, ACORN is the only winery where every wine is a co-fermented field blend. At first, we sold all of our grapes to Ridge Vineyards and other local wineries, but in 1994, we decided to make wine ourselves and established ACORN Winery. An acorn is a popular symbol of prosperity, good fortune, and potential. (“Mighty oaks from little acorns grow.”) We are tiny like an acorn; Our wines have a lot of potential; our historic vineyard is lined with tall oak trees; and our wine is aged in oak barrels, so ACORN was the perfect name! Our first release was our 1994 Sangiovese, co-fermented with Canaiolo and Mammolo. We are dedicated to creating co-fermented field blends from our certified sustainable grapes that truly reflect this special place. We have always been committed to farming and living sustainably. We enjoy the biodiversity of the creatures, great and small, who share this land with us. Today, after more than 30 years, we continue to find alegría living in the middle of our vineyards, enjoying the Russian River climate, growing grapes and sharing our ACORN wines.…

In 2009, after many happy years spent working in the world of premium travel and hospitality, we settled in the heart of the Napa Valley and founded Silver Trident Winery. We started small, and we’ve stayed that way by choice. We’re still a boutique family winery, producing just 3,500 cases a year. We focus mainly on single-varietal wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc as well as a proprietary Napa Valley Red Blend. Our wonderfully talented winemaker, Kari Auringer, joined us in 2009 and we crafted our inaugural vintage of Twenty Seven Fathoms Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. The following year, we debuted our renowned Benevolent Dictator Pinot Noir. In March, 2015, we opened the doors to our celebrated Tasting Home in Yountville. Furnished exclusively with the Ralph Lauren Home Collection, a whole new approach pairing great wines with world-class home décor was born. We’ve been welcoming guests from all over the globe ever since to experience our wines and our world in an elegant, yet wine-country-casual setting.…
In 1992, when we started Clif Bar & Company, we were driven by our passion for food and adventure and a desire to create convenient, portable and above all delicious food for today’s busy lifestyles. Several years later, in 1997, we moved with our family to the Napa Valley. What started as a home in the country soon developed into a wonderful adventure in winemaking and a deeper commitment to sustainability and farming. Today, on CCOF-certified organic farm we grow a variety of fruits and vegetables that make their way to our Clif Family Bruschetteria Food Truck and into and our preserved fruit and vegetable products. For our wines, we source our fruit from some of the best vineyards in the Napa Valley and Mendocino appellations, working with growers that have demonstrated a commitment to the environment and sustainable farming of their land. Our Cabernet Sauvignon wines come from our organically farmed Howell Mountain estate vineyards. In spring 2018, we purchased a 40-acre vineyard in Napa Valley’s famed Oak Knoll District. We are looking forward to our first harvest from this organically farmed vineyard in 2021. Our goal is to craft unique, regional wine and foods using practices that care for the earth and to support growers who use sustainable and organic farming methods. In this way, we can contribute to a more vibrant and healthy food community.…
With 100 years of agriculture in Napa, it comes as no surprise that the heart and soul of Gamble Family Vineyards is deeply rooted in the soil. Founded by third-generation farmer Tom Gamble in 2005, Gamble Family Vineyards owns prime estate vineyards from many of Napa’s most respected AVAs—Oakville, Mt. Veeder, Rutherford and Yountville. Its winery and by-invitation-only tasting room have a quiet presence, sitting modestly in an isolated nook off Highway 29 in the heart of Napa Valley’s Oakville AVA. Set back from the main road, Gamble’s mission here is to carry on the heritage of farming that his ancestors sowed when they came to Napa as farmers and cattle ranchers in 1916. They left with him a legacy of deep and abiding affinity for the land from which came not only their livelihood, but also a life full of purpose.Having shadowed his father on the family ranches as a child, Tom has had a hand in the land since an early age. In 1981, at the age of 20, he purchased his first vineyard with several partners, making him the first Gamble to begin growing grapes commercially. “Given this legacy, one does not continue farming for dispassionate reasons alone—there are easier ways to make a living. And thus, taking the next step and putting my name on a bottle of wine does not come lightly,” says Gamble. Winemaker Jim Close follows Gamble Family Vineyards’ mission of producing Old World style wines that seamlessly bring together elegance, balance, nuance, with good structure and moderate alcohol, while embracing and highlighting the characteristics Napa Valley terroir imparts on the wines. Jim Close began his winemaking career in the southern Languedoc region of France, and has made every bottle of Gamble Family Vineyards wine since inception.…

Bouchaine was founded in 1981 by Tatiana and Gerret Copeland, making it one of the oldest, continuously family-owned properties in the Carneros AVA today. Under the Copelands’ leadership, Bouchaine has grown from a pair of ramshackle buildings into one of the leading producers of sustainably farmed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the region. In 2015, they recruited Chris Kajani as general manager and winemaker, along with Erik Goodmanson as associate winemaker. Fueled by imagination, passion and with an eye toward the future, Kajani and her team have since elevated the farming practices and vineyards, modernized the cellar, and developed a new world-class hospitality center and demonstration kitchen. As the winery enters its 40th year, the Copelands, who are based in Delaware, continue to bring an international perspective to the winery with an eye to the future. They invested in this cool-climate region long before it was well known and remain active in the day-to-day operations and strategic plans. The Copelands care deeply about sustainable agriculture and growing elegant wine, while also bringing effortless fun to each of the winery’s touchpoints. If one sentence can encapsulate the energy they bring, it is the words embossed in the floor entrance of the winery’s new Visitor Center: “Wine Makes you Happy.”…

Almina is all about relationships. Relationships that bring people back to the table to sustain themselves with good wine and food, conversation and a small respite from the hustle and bustle of today’s world. Palmina crafts wines that are a key part of that equation; wines that can be enjoyed everyday, and that complement and enhance a wide range of food styles. Palmina produces wines from Italian varietals grown in Santa Barbara County, California. Steve found that the climate and soil types here are similar to those in their favorite regions of Northern Italy. Each have unique microclimates – Piemonte, Friuli and Santa Barbara County - that are similar. All feature cold air pushing warm air to create growing conditions that provide enough sunlight to help fully develop fruit flavors. And all three regions enjoy cool night temperatures that maintain the grape’s natural acidity levels, and which allow winemakers to create “food wines” with a balance of fruit, tannin and acid. Palmina, though, is not attempting to emulate what the Italians have done for years with these grapes. The intent is to make the best food wines possible by understanding the translation of the region, grapes and foods and how they are best interpreted here in Santa Barbara County. Just like translating a piece of literature from one language to another, the meaning must be the focus, not just the verbiage. In Italy, food and wine is part of a healthy, happy way of life that brings people together. Palmina wines are made in a deliberate manner that allow each to complement food. Indeed, these wines are simply a part of the meal - an extension of the plate.…
Tercero wines is the brainchild of Larry Schaffer, owner and winemaker. He began the brand shortly after graduating with his Masters Degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis – but this was well after he had completely switched directions in life and charted a new and exciting path. Larry started his college career at UC Davis as an undergraduate, but had no interest in wine. He transferred to UC Berkeley and received his BS in Business Administration from the Haas School of business. His first job out of school was in the music industry as he envisioned himself getting into the artist management and/or marketing side of music (he took pictures of punk bands in the LA music scene during high school). That never fully materialized and he switched directions, getting into the sales and marketing of educational products for teachers, eventually helping to create new markets for these products. He then went into the trade publishing field, working for a pop-up book publisher. He really enjoyed what he did – for awhile – but eventually felt that he was not being challenged intellectually at all. The idea of getting into wine was something he had considered in the past – but more on the sales and marketing side because of his background. Science was not something he was comfortable with or felt he could do very well – but as most of you know, winemaking involves lots of science. He therefore took the challenge on, taking basic science classes at community colleges with kids who literally could have been his kids, before transferring back to UC Davis to get his master’s degree. After graduating with his degree, he joined the winemaking team at Fess Parker Winery, where he stayed for nearly a decade before it was time to branch off and concentrate 100% on his own brand – and he could not be happier today. Larry is adept not only at winemaking but at explaining the process in a very user-friendly manner. Visit his tasting room or follow him on social media to see for yourself.…
At the Central Coast Group Project (CCGP), the goal is simple: we hope our love of wine, generosity of spirit and humble efforts in the cellar fully translate to your glass, transporting you, if only for a sip, to the golden age. CCGP is a boutique producer of fine wines located in Santa Barbara County. Committed to excellence, we source only the highest quality fruit from local, world-class vineyards that farm organically and/or sustainably to our particular specifications. In the cellar, we take a natural approach, using modern means to enhance ancient techniques that gently build flavor, structure, texture and balance from the grapes themselves. Specializing in small lot, vigilantly handcrafted Syrah and Grenache based red wines, we endeavor to express the cooler climes, unique soils and exceptional vineyard sites of our Central Coast with super-Cali typicity, purity & inimitable style.…
Sol-miner as in mining the "Sun" which in turn nourishes the soul. The name inspires us to discover and unearth the treasures in the soils of the California Central Coast. Our decisions have always been personal (not commercial) and involve what we call "conscious farming". As we learn about our little piece of earth and our place in it, the picture begins to widen. We have a feeling of connectedness as each trip around the sun gives us the chance to experience the magical process of exchange from the dirt, plants, fruit, wine, humans, sky, moon, sun and stars. We found our vineyard and farmhouse in 2012 and named it “deLanda” a combination of our first and last names. It reflects our personal desire to produce natural wines using varietals related to our Austrian heritage. Certified organic in 2014 and Biodynamic® in 2018 deLanda is evolving as we evolve as farmers. Ultimately it shines with individuality and biodiversity as we incorporate chickens, donkeys, sheep, bees, fruit trees, native plants, biodynamic compost, preparations and herb teas all to support the microorganisms in the dirt and health of the vineyard. Today we are known for both our Austrian varieties and also our willingness to experiment and create wines outside of the traditional box. Some of our most popular wines are our skin fermented white wines, like our Austrian inspired Field Blend. The Field Blend is a blend of all of the white varieties we grow: Grüner Veltliner, Muscat and Riesling, which are fermented on their skins for about two weeks creating an incredibly floral and tropical amber colored wine. Another favorite is always our carbonic macerated Syrah, which is served chilled. It's juicy, easy drinking and packed with aromas of red cherries. In 2020, we started experimenting with making cider from the 13+ heirloom apple varieties we have planted around our vineyard. We are super excited to see how our cider and winemaking evolves and what the everchanging future holds for us.…
Poetry Vineyard is a steep, southwest-facing, hillside vineyard that reaches from the highest elevation in the Stags Leap District down to the Silverado Trail. Made up of a combination of shallow, volcanic soils on top of fractured shale, this vineyard receives plenty of sunshine and is the source for the winery’s flagship Cabernet, Sauvignon, Poetry. The vineyards on the valley floor surrounding the tasting room and the winery are referred to as Twin Peaks Ranch. The soil is predominantly gravelly loam, and the vines are planted to red Bordeaux varieties. This property forms the backbone of the Cliff Lede Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon. The state-of-the-art winery, designed by Howard Backen, combines time-tested techniques with innovative technology. It features a Pellenc optical sorting machine, which sorts grapes based upon quality settings established by the winemaker. Following an additional hand-sort, a unique crane system gently gravity delivers the berries to tanks for fermentation, allowing for minimal processing of the fruit. In addition, Lede commissioned American tank manufacturer Mueller to recreate distinctive truncated tanks similar to those at Château Latour, tapered to allow for a higher skin-to-juice ratio, resulting in greater complexity and a deeper concentration of flavors in the wine.…
From the beginning, the character of Le Cadeau Vineyard was apparent. The aromatics were fresh and intense. The fruit flavors were pure and deep. There were hints of Asian spices mingled with an earthiness not often found in young Pinot noir wines. Those core characteristics remain today, regardless of the vintage or the winemaking. Truly extraordinary winemakers from Oregon and beyond have collaborated with Le Cadeau and made excellent wines, but increasingly the adage rings true: Great Pinot noir is made in the vineyard. New clones and rootstocks have been added while farming practices have been pushed to ever-higher standards. As we move into our second decade of winegrowing in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, we’re confident that our best wines are yet to come. Le Cadeau Pinot noir is all about this very special and unique vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. We showcase various attributes of the vineyard–clones, soils, and aspect–by bottling small production cuveés from different sections of the vineyard.…

Our search for a great site to plant Pinot Noir started in 1999, and ended on a warm April day in 2000. We walked up a hill into an old pasture we learned about from some friends and it was immediately clear how warm the site was, what perfect orientation it had and how well drained the soils were. Steve knew the minute he climbed into that pasture, that this was an A+ site; it had the right elevation, orientation and soil type.…
Caring for the land, cultivating its greatest offering, and joining friends at the table. These are the things we love to do, and they’re all right here on the estate farm. Our founder caught sight of a vision as a boy from his relatives in Italy and Croatia: Staying close to the earth is staying close to the riches of life. Alloro Vineyard is how we take that tradition forward—thoughtfully growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Muscat and handcrafting them with utmost care into wines that recall a heritage of hard work, conviviality, and shared leisure.…
The words Anam Cara are Celtic for "friend of my soul" and represent rare friendships that transcend time and distance. Originally from Lodi, California (Nick) and Scotland (Sheila) the couple met in London while Sheila was in Public Relations and Nick was the European Marketing Manager for a US-based corporation. When Nick returned stateside in 1981, they were married in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Together, they opened a small chain of family-serving pizza parlors first in Benicia, California, and then in the Napa Valley. It was when they moved to St. Helena that their immersion in the world of wine began. In 2001, the family came to Oregon, purchasing a rundown walnut, plum and filbert orchard which was to become the home of Nicholas Vineyard and Anam Cara Cellars wines. Nick and Sheila continue to farm the vineyard, assisted by their two dogs, Buck and Missy who welcome visitors and help keep the vineyard gopher free.…
At Soter Vineyards we farm our wine. These wines are a reflection of the intention to convey place as an essential character in everything we make. The combination of respectful farming and craftsmanship as well as our ancient soils and temperate climate result in wines that are layered, nuanced and seductively captivating while remaining modest in alcohol and tannin, a happy consequence of the interaction of both the hand and the land. Our estate Pinot Noirs are sourced entirely from the Mineral Springs Ranch Vineyard, located east of the town of Carlton. Fruit for our North Valley wines are procured from some of the state’s best vineyards in the Northern Willamette Valley. For Planet Oregon, we cast a wider net with the intent to make wines truly representative of Oregon utilizing fruit primarily from the Willamette Valley but also from Southern Oregon. All of our wines are made with fruit that comes exclusively from certified sustainable vineyards. Our winery is partially housed in a refurbished barn, originally built in 1943. In the hillside next to the barn we dug two caves and lined them in cement for our barrel rooms, creating a space that is naturally cool year-round. Additionally, most days modified skylights illuminate the space. This, along with the temperature controlling elements, makes the building not only a perfect environment to raise world-class wines but also an essential factors in helping us to conserve energy and limit carbon expenditure, part of our goal to become a more sustainable business.…

We seek to express the incredible character of Oregon through impeccable raw materials and minimal intervention in the winery. Founded by winemaker and owner Brianne Day in the 2012 vintage, Day Wines is a producer of boutique, artisanal bottlings from Applegate Valley in the south to Yamhill-Carlton in the north and numerous other AVAs in between. We source from outstanding organic and biodynamic vineyards to create distinct expressions of our corner of the world.…
John Grochau was first introduced to wine and the winemaking landscape in his early 20’s, while racing bicycles for a French team in the Loire Valley. For several years, he raced through some of France’s most revered winemaking regions including Champagne, Burgundy and the across the Loire Valley. When he returned to his hometown of Portland, Oregon, he went to work in the restaurant business and quickly discovered an even greater appreciation for wine. After more than decade selling wine in some of Portland’s finest restaurants, including a 14-year stint at Higgins, Grochau plunged into winemaking. He spent a year in Sonoma before returning to Oregon to work at Erath Winery, and then worked alongside winemaker Doug Tunnel at Brick House Vineyards for four years. His first vintage as owner and winemaker at Grochau Cellars was 2002.…
We believe that 90% of winemaking takes place in the vineyard. Because of this, we have held ourselves to a strict form of land use acting as stewards of the land in order to nurture and reap the rewards naturally. Our alternative approach to chemical use is growing a variety of medicinal and dynamic flowers and herbs that we make into compost teas. By steeping into teas, we’re able to harness the beneficial properties of each flower and herb and embody a “from nature to nature” philosophy. As such, our multiple compost piles and Biodynamic preparations are extremely important for our vineyards because the resulting humus is worked into our vineyard in order to achieve long-term soil and vine health. Our unique niche in the foothills of Oregon’s Coast Range separates us from valley weather influences providing warmer days and cooler nights with less precipitation during the harvest season. The property has highly diversified soil types consisting primarily of Nekia and Yamhill series, laced with veins of Peavine and Jory. By training our vines to produce between 1.75-2.25 tons per acre, we believe we are getting the best fruit possible from our unique terroir.…
Founded in 1998 by Lisa and Scott Neal in what is now the McMinnville. Utilizing strictly organic practices from our inception, we work with our ecosystem to craft wines that reflect the time and place from where they come. We utilize latest technology such as drone imaging and gps guided farming to grow great fruit, then use minimalist handling in winery to allow it to be the star. In the winery, we have a fully carbon neutral footprint by utilizing biofuels in the vineyard and solar panel for electric generation. Our vineyard has both sedimentary and volcanic origin soils, multiple slopes and steep elevations that allow a diverse palate of wines that come from our vineyard.…
Nestled in the Southern Willamette Valley, twenty minutes southwest of Eugene, Oregon, Iris Vineyards produces world-class, award-winning Oregon wine from grapes grown at our Chalice Vineyard. When King Estate Winery was established in 1991, it staked its future on three pillars: Stewardship. Family. Tradition. Those pillars have proved a solid and true foundation for the winery that today produces some of Oregon’s most recognizable and best-loved wines. Co-founders Ed King III and his father, the late Ed King, Jr., had a vision for the 600-acre parcel of land they discovered in the southern Willamette Valley that was used to grow hay and pasture cattle. Over the years that parcel has evolved into one of Oregon’s most recognizable and iconic vineyards with 1,033 acres on the certified Biodynamic® estate. Three generations of the King family are involved in the family business, continuing the old-world traditions of sustainable agriculture and artisan winemaking. Meticulous fruit selection and impeccable practices are hallmarks of winemaking at King Estate. Part of Oregon’s renowned Willamette Valley region, King Estate is best known for its superb Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The pure taste of Oregon can be found in every bottle.…
Angeleno Wine Company is wine grown in Los Angeles, and made in Los Angeles. It is a little known fact that California winemaking began in Los Angeles, not in Napa or Sonoma. The state's first original winemakers made and grew their wines where our winery sits today. At its height of production in the mid-1800's, Angelenos were making 2 million bottles of wine, several years before Napa even had their first commercial winery. It used to be that when San Franciscans and New Yorkers saw 'California Wine' on a label, they knew it came from L.A.. Our pride and joy is a small vineyard about an hour north of Los Angeles outside a little town called Agua Dulce. It is farmed by Juan Alonso, a visionary who planted an array of lesser known Spanish grape varietals from his native Galicia. Tannat, Graciano, Godello, Loureiro, and Treixadura are some of the unique varietals that Angeleno makes into wine every year. For us, Juan is the heart and soul of Angeleno. As "natural" winemakers, we use all native yeasts and don't add chemicals, proteins, colors or flavors to our wine. We harvest early to preserve natural acidity in the fruit. We strive to make wines that truly showcase Los Angeles fruit with our wines. For this reason, we consider Juan Alonso the true winemaker of Angeleno, as it is the character of his vineyard that shines through in our wines.…
With a focus on red Bordeaux and Rhone varietals, each one of our handcrafted wines is meticulously guided from flower to fruit, harvest to crush, and barrel to bottle. Along the way we make each careful decision with the fruit’s identity and individual character in mind.

The Miller family’s California farming and ranching legacy dates to back to 1871, when William and Francis Broome moved from England to the West Coast of California and began farming in southern Ventura County. The farming legacy passed down to William Broome’s granddaughter Elizabeth, and following her marriage to Robert Miller in 1942, the Miller Family became the steward of the farming business. In 1973, the Miller family developed a vineyard in the Paso Robles highlands and named it French Camp for the Basque shepherds who once populated the area. The area had a special allure thanks to the largest day/night temperature swings, mineral rich soils and highest elevations in the regions. The 1400 acres of French Camp provide the Miller Family with the highest quality fruit sources that help to create the highest quality wines.…

A huge part of our story at Epoch is about preserving two integral pieces of Paso Robles history. When we purchased our Paderewski Vineyard in 2004, not only did we hit the jackpot as far as soils and views were concerned, we were also buying a property that was once owned, planted, and cherished by Polish pianist and Prime Minister, Ignacy Jan Paderewski. In 2010, we were fortunate enough to purchase the old York Mountain property, which was the site of the first bonded winery on the Central Coast. To own two properties that boast such rich history is a dream come true, and we make it a priority to preserve and share both the Paderewski and York Mountain legacies through our wines and the Epoch experience……

At ONX we focus on farming our crops with the understanding that the fruits of our labors will be realized in a glass of wine... your glass hopefully! There is a French term, elevage, which is applied to wine and it translates to “the educating or upbringing” of wine like parents do with their children. We like to extend that notion into the vineyard and believe that we can train the vines into producing the best possible fruit for wine production. Our winegrowing goal each year is to raise concentrated and highly expressive fruit. We balance our crop to allow the vines to focus their energy on a limited number of clusters. The vine canopy is manicured to allow dappled sunlight penetration and air movement within the vine canopy. We employ a variety of trellis approaches that match our rootstock, scion, and soil combinations.…
In the early '90s, Victor was enjoying a successful career as a sound engineer in Los Angeles. But he was so intrigued by an article from Wine Spectator Magazine that it changed his life forever. He was bitten by the bug and began devouring everything he could read about the winemaking process. While dirt biking in the hills above Culver City, Victor came across the perfect spot to experiment with this newfound knowledge - that small patch of land in a remote corner of Marycrest Manor. Victor eventually lost the battle with the nuns who ran the home, but not before the passion for winemaking had taken a firm hold. Victor met his wife, Jenni, in 2002 and by 2004, with a toddler and another on the way, purchased the land that would become Vines on the Marycrest. Out went the original almond trees and in came the vines, loving planted and tended by Victor himself. With Jenni running the winery and managing the children through the week, Victor continued the weekly commute to his job in LA (a 600 mile round trip!) for 9 years before making Vines on the Marycrest his full-time passion in 2013. We at Vines on the Marycrest have a passion for great music, art and fine wine that guides everything we do - from sustainably farming our dry-farmed, head-pruned vineyard of old vine Zinfandel, Tempranillo and Rhône varietals, to crafting our award-winning micro-production wines, to entertaining our friends and customers with some of the best music the world has to offer. Our handcrafted wines, including 6 blends (all named after popular songs) and 6 varietals, perfectly capture the spirit of the Paso Robles appellation. Come join us for great wine, music, and company! Oh, and don't worry if the music is blasting when you walk in, Victor will turn it down for you!…
Field Recordings is winemaker Andrew Jones’ personal catalog of the people and places he values most. Our wines are all about the flavor — with none of the pretension. Spending his days as a vine nursery fieldman planning and planting vineyards for farmers all over California, Andrew is sometimes offered small lots of their best fruit on the side. Having stood in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast, he’s all about finding those underdogs with untapped potential. As friendships are made and opportunities are embraced, Andrew produces small quantities of soulful wine from these unusual, quiet vineyards. We offer single-vineyard wines with a sense of place and personality, as well as delightful blends under our Wonderwall and Fiction projects. These bottles are good enough to save for a special occasion … but we’re a laidback crew, so don’t feel bad about putting one back on a Tuesday night.…
One of Napa Valley’s original Cabernet houses with a legacy that dates back to 1886, Freemark Abbey has pioneered the California wine industry and become a beacon of enduring quality and tradition. Timeless, trusted and authentic—the winery is admired for crafting classically structured Cabernet Sauvignon that stand the test of time sourced from lauded vineyard sites. The winery has an especially long tradition of sourcing from the highly desired Rutherford AVA and is widely known for its iconic Bosché and Sycamore single-vineyard Cabernets. We are a family owned and operated winery founded in 2003 in Lompoc, California. Papapietro Perry winery began in a garage in San Francisco with friends Bruce Perry and Ben Papapietro who took up winemaking as a hobby. Along with their wives, Renae and Yolanda, they shared a love of Pinot Noir and wanted to be able to drink it every day. The only way they could afford to do that was to make it themselves. And so the adventure began. Ben and Bruce had both made wine with their grandfathers, and like them, they had a talent for it. After retiring from their day jobs, they succumbed to the appeals from family and friends to start a winery. Renae and Yolanda joined and made it a family affair. Renae runs Winery Operations and Yolanda handles our distributors. When asked what kind of wines we make, we always smile and say “great wines”. We source fruit from the finest growers in the Russian River and Anderson Valleys and Sonoma Coast. Our long standing agreements with our growers enable us to be in the vineyard throughout the year guiding the growing process. Our cellar maintains an unpretentious and welcoming ambiance, just like the old days in Ben’s garage. The same vibe carries through to the tasting room where you’ll hear “We take our wine seriously, but not ourselves”. Thirty years of winemaking is expertly delivered in every bottle of Papapietro Perry wine. We remain small in order to preserve our hands-on winemaking techniques. By keeping production small, we’ve kept quality high, leading to 90+ scores consistently.…
We treasured a childhood growing up on a farm in Iowa and the qualities and life lessons it gave. We wanted this for our three daughters (Natasha, Jordan, and Aspen). With the future in mind we wanted to create a sustainable and responsible farm. That is why we started farming organically in 2003 and continue to move toward biodynamic practices. Youngberg Hill is a small, family estate grower and producer of Oregon Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. We purchased Youngberg Hill in 2003 and overhauled the entire estate, including vineyard management, winemaking, tasting room, and hospitality. With backgrounds in winemaking, distribution, food & beverage, hospitality, and marketing, we knew that all of our talents would be used to turn something that was already beautiful on the outside into a place that was equally as beautiful on the inside, too. Having the Inn on the vineyard is a great way to meet people from all over the world, make new friends, and to share the beauty of our McMinnville winery. It is wonderful to share our world with those who have a common interest in good wine, good food, and the wonder that abounds in this beautiful place we call Oregon wine country.…
