Directed by William Dieterle from a screenplay by Sonya Levien and starring Charles Laughton, Maureen O’Hara, Cedric Hardwicke, Thomas Mitchell and Edmond O’Brien, The Hunchback of Notre Dame was the first sound film adapted from Victor Hugo’s classic novel.
