Welcome back to this enlightening episode of THE POTTER’S HAND series. in this teaching, you will discover a profound truth in Genesis 2:7, the Bible reveals, that when God created Adam, He breathed into him the breath of life, and Adam became a living soul.
It’s important to note that Adam didn’t simply become a soul; the Bible specifically tells us he became a living soul. The distinction is crucial. Why, you might ask? Because there’s a powerful truth at work here. The enemy wants us to believe that we are merely souls, but God’s design for us goes far beyond that. In Hebrew, the word used in Genesis 2:7 for breath is "neshama." This term encompasses much more than just breath. It signifies spirit, soul, divine inspiration, intellect—in essence, it’s the very life force from God that animates man. It’s this divine breath that transformed Adam into a living soul. So, what does it mean to be a living soul?
It means having the Spirit of God within us—breathing life into every facet of our being. You see, when life isn't present, we risk becoming what I call a 'dead soul,' simply existing without true vitality. The enemy has cleverly crafted a narrative that often keeps mankind stuck at a mere soul level instead of the vibrant living soul level God intended for us.
Now let’s shift our focus to the soul realm. Our soul comprises our willpower, emotions, and intellect. These components are indeed powerful and can drive us to great heights. But here’s the catch: they are not enough in and of themselves. There is a higher dimension—the spirit realm—which superimposes over the soul.
As New Creations in Christ, we are called to live at God’s standard. This is not a mere existence but a thriving, vibrant life infused via His word. When the Holy Spirit speaks to our spirit, that is spiritual information. But when that information is communicated to our soul, it becomes revelation! It’s vital to realize that when we’re faced with trials and tribulations, our soul can become weak. Pain and suffering can wear us down, especially if our spirit’s strength isn’t communicated to our soul.
We often turn to various medical methods such as psychological support or trauma rehabilitation to strengthen ourselves. And while these can be helpful, we must recognize that the root of many of our struggles originates in the spiritual realm.
Strength comes from the word of God, & we become weak in our soul when we fail to embody His truth. The Psalmist admonishes "hide it in your heart," but it’s so much more than just hiding the word in our hearts. We must actively use God’s word to strengthen our souls. With every spiritual truth we integrate, we fortify our inner being.
When we feel weak, we need to renew ourselves through the word. A weak soul can blind us to the solutions that are right next to us. External encouragement can only take us so far; we must cultivate inner strength through our relationship with God. As David said, "I will encourage myself in the Lord."
This journey of suffering with Christ can leave us disheartened. I want to encourage you today—strengthen yourself in your soul. There’s glory ahead, and through the challenges, we must look to the word of God to bolster our spirits and lift our hearts.
In conclusion, I urge you to meditate on the concept of being a living soul. Embrace the life that His breath provides. Don’t settle for just existing; thrive as a person filled with divine purpose. Reflect on the Life of Christ within you, & let it guide you into a deeper relationship with God.
