This episode challenges the ludicrous narrative coming from the Trump camp--the asinine idea that the president has 'absolute immunity. We will discuss the deluded and tortured argument for 'absolute presidential immunity' from criminal prosecution, its dubious history, and its danger to democracy itself. In theory at its most extreme application, under this doctrine a president could call an opponent into the Oval Office, put a gun to their head, pull the trigger, then demand the janitor clean up the mess without ever being held criminally accountable. This is the spectre of absolute presidential immunity that Donald Trump is demanding, which the Supreme Court could allow. This is our big story.
