In a musical landscape rife with bubblegum melodies and non sequitur raps the GemRats have chosen a different path. Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky GemRats emcees JustMe and Sheisty Khrist lean heavily on emceeing, lyricism and biting social commentary. Both are frequent CunninLynguists collaborators with each member having Deacon the Villain-produced projects including “Tragedy & Dope”, “N.W.L”, and “Couple’s Skate”. JustMe is a founding member of the acclaimed underground hip-hop collective Scribbling Idiots. Sheisty Khrist is a founding member of the legendary Madd Militia often referred to as “Wu-Tang before Wu-Tang”. GemRats recorded their debut tape over the winter of 2013. They released it in the fall of 2022.
