Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a civil rights leader who left a lasting legacy. He led the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott, helped organize the 1963 nonviolent protests in Birmingham, Alabama, and helped organize the 1963 March on Washington, DC, where he delivered his famous August 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech -- where he said: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." On April 3, 1968, Dr. King gave his last speech called "I have been to the Mountaintop" in support of striking sanitation workers.
