The Comics Aficionados break down all the latest comic book industry news and rumors. Rumors persisted for weeks DC Comics and Tom Taylor were planning on Jon Kent going out as gay. This week DC Comics confirm Jon Kent will have his first LGBTQ+ kiss in Superman Son of Kal El #5. Leading to a debate: is this natural character progression or a cheap marketing trick? (00:07:10) Marvel Comics EIC C.B. Cebulski once again has people calling for his job. This week, Daredevil show runner Steven DeKnight learned Marvel published Cebulski manga in Japan under Asian pseudonym Akira Yoshida. Cebulski was reprimanded several years ago by Marvel, despite Marvel publishing the books. (01:04:05) Writer Chip Zdarsky is exploring the beginning of Bruce Wayne’s transformation to Batman in Batman: The Knight. The Comics Aficionados debate if there is a more played out story or plot in comic books. (01:24:05) David Michelinie and Erik Larsen had a public tiff over who should be credited as the creator or originator of the Venom character. Both made good points, but in the end Michelinie was forced to apologize to Todd McFarlane. (01:51:27) DC Comics had a terrible week as far as PR and controversy, made worse by their most recent announcements of upcoming projects. Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Waid and Tini Howard are front and center in major DC Comics projects publishing in 2022. (02:01:35)
