The parshiot of Nitzavim and Vayelech are read at the end of the Jewish Year as we are in the midst of examining our deeds and getting ready to approach the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. In keeping with the ‘theme’ of this auspicious and awesome time of the Jewish calendar the parshios focus on what has transpired with the Jewish people. The theme of teshuva (repentance) is a running thread throughout. In this class, recorded LIVE in Jerusalem, Rabbi Wein discusses the topic of teshuva and the difference between the judgement of a human and that of the ultimate judge – our father in heaven. Based on a medrash in the book of Tehillim that discusses the judgement and repentance of King David, this lecture is a true gem.
