Things You Can Ditch From Your Wedding Right Now
Manage episode 246422185 series 2506080
We've lost count of the number of times we've been asked how to save money on your wedding, but there's another question that we don't think is asked enough, and that's, "How do I save time in the run up to my wedding?" Well, in episode 38 of The One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we're helping you do both! We're presenting a list of all the details, elements and purchases that you can happily drop from your wedding today, without your guests ever noticing! Now, we're not suggesting that you ditch all 29 items mentioned, but it's worth noting that, if you did, you'd save around €10,000/£9,000/$11,000, and about a fortnight's worth of wedmin! Ditching a handful of things from our list is probably a more realistic goal, so grab your red pen and let's go!
Episode Breakdown: 29 Things You Can Ditch From Your Wedding Right Now
Wedding tip: Claire's tip this week is to remember to pack an overnight back for the wedding! Whether you're getting ready at home, at a hotel, or at your venue, this is an absolute must, unless you want to go down to breakfast on the morning after the big day in nothing but a bathrobe! We've got a handy checklist of everything you need to include here.
Main topic: We love an elaborate, no-expense-spared party as much as the next gals, but we're also aware that lots of couples are desperate to slash either their wedding budget, or their wedding to-do list... or perhaps both! One of the best ways to do this is to drop a handful of elements that you expected to include in your wedding, so in today's episode, we're giving you a handy list of things to ditch! Our Ditch List includes lots of cute and pretty, but ultimately unnecessary, details that absolutely no one will miss on the big day, least of all you and your partner! If you're looking to save money on your wedding, or remove some tasks from your to-do list, this is an ideal place to start.
Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “I'm an Irish bride living in Vancouver. My fiancé and I got engaged in the spring of 2018 and it was so special. Our wedding is December 2020. I'm just wondering if you have any tips on how to keep people excited as our big day is coming in. Being abroad, I find it really hard when people aren't excited over big things. I completely understand it's been a longer engagement (over 2.5 years), but we were adamant that we didn't want to take out a loan or live like hermits to achieve a shorter engagement.” Our advice for this listener is to celebrate wedding milestones with her partner, and to accept the inevitable! Unfortunately, you can't force people to get excited about your wedding, but rest assured that they will be jumping out of their skin with enthusiasm when the big day finally rolls around!
Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In this episode, Claire's recommending a board or parlour game tournament, complete with prizes and leaderboard!
