Noble Sissle, who lived from 1889 to 1975, participated in and witnessed some of America's great moments in history associated with culture and racial equality. Known throughout history as a music lyricist and orchestra leader, Sissle was an ambassador of goodwill for America from World War I with the renowned Harlem Hellfighters' Regimental Band to the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s to entertaining millions of military service persons with the USO in World War II to playing for presidents, governors and supporting residents in his beloved New York City. Noble Sissle was also an historian who wrote, lectured and recorded American history as he lived through it. He left behind a trove of written and recorded materials that will be shared during episodes of this podcast. Hosted by his son Noble Sissle, Jr., a weekly 30-minute entertaining podcast will be inaugurated at 8:00pm ET, Sunday, May 23, 2021. This marks to the moment 100 years when the curtain rose in 1921 on Sissle's Broadway musical SHUFFLE ALONG that changed America forever and ushered in the Harlem Renaissance. Each Sunday night at 8:00pm ET, a new episode will be released.
