004 : IELTS Listening Introduction With All Question Types
Manage episode 313545206 series 3275149
For this episode, I am only going to focus on IELTS academic to avoid any confusion. IELTS is divided into four different sections that are listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections of the IELTS test is completed on the same day, and speaking is usually scheduled a week before or after.
In this episode, I will explain the listening part in detail. You will listen to four recordings of native speakers, and as you hear, you have to simultaneously answer a series of questions. You will find questions related to what you are listening to in the question paper provided to you. So, you will be listening and writing down answers at the same time. It will take around 30 minutes, and then you will get additional 10 minutes to transfer those answers to an actual answer sheet. Each recording will contain ten questions, and as I said earlier, you will be listening to four separate recordings so that you will be answering 40 questions, each containing one mark.
You will listen to a total of four recordings. The first two recordings will be a conversation and monologue set in a social context. The third and fourth recordings will be conversation and monologue set in an educational or academic context. I hope now you know how the listening test is structured.
Later in the episode, we will discuss the types of questions that can be asked in the listening part along with important tips. If you wish to take the test along with the explanation of the question click here.
