The novel sparked tremendous controversy when it came out, but that didn’t stop it from winning the prestigious Governor General’s Literary Award the year of its release.

Is this a book about a woman finding self-actualization by communing with nature, or is it a sharp satire of a settler’s bizarre attempts at cultural appropriation? Podside Pete joins us for some bear consent discourse.
