Lucia’s biggest IELTS challenge

Lucia faced several challenges in preparing for the IELTS exam, but her primary challenge was with the writing section.

She struggled to achieve the desired band score and often felt frustrated and discouraged.

However, her resilience and determination kept her going. She refused to accept a band score of 6 and instead focused on improving her writing skills.

The solutions she tried before joining the IELTS Sentence Guide course

Initially, she tried to improve her writing skills by herself, but she found it challenging without proper feedback.

Lucia sought help from an English teacher who wasn’t trained for IELTS. While this helped her somewhat, it didn’t get her the score she needed.

Lucia enrolled in an online course with a different online language academy to improve her writing, and it helped her achieve the score she needed in writing for her third attempt but she scored under in reading. Lucia decided to discontinue the online language academy due to the cost.

How Lucia passed IELTS the 7th time she tried

After finding and reading Ben’s book, the IELTS Writing Task 2 Sentence Guide, Lucia decided to join the course.

Lucia appreciated the feedback given by the essay correction team which highlighted her weaknesses and pushed her to improve.

She was determined to get a higher score, and thus, she purchased essay packs and continued with the course.

Lucia found the framework from the course helpful in structuring her essays but preferred to understand the logic rather than memorise it word-for-word. After receiving feedback and building her confidence, Lucia was able to pass her exam.

Lucia’s journey is an inspiration for anyone who is struggling to achieve their desired score in IELTS writing.

Her persistence, determination, and willingness to seek proper guidance and feedback led her to succeed in her seventh attempt with a Band 7 score in writing.
