Natural Disasters have this overwhelming ability to cause absolute destruction with little to no warning for those most susceptible. Hurricane Ida was no exception to this hitting land at a category 4 initially throat punching the great state of Louisiana on August 26th 2021. With extensive flooding and mass power outages, many families found their homes, belongings and overall lives in shambles after bracing the storm. Born a Cajun, a large portion of Laura's family resides down south who have all braved many hurricane seasons over the years including her older sister. After living through the most recent Hurricane, Christina Bolling joins the podcast this week to talk about her experience as well as the tragic reality so many others are having to face throughout her state even 4 weeks after the initial impact. Once a disaster initially hits, the news channels are quick to cover it. But with time, that attention fades and life is expected to go on even for families finding themselves in homes that are entirely unlivable anymore. The storm damage becomes old news and the rest of the country forgets just how hard some people are impacted by the water and winds. Join us as we shine a light on Hurricane Ida as well as the ripple effect it has continued to make on the south.
