Attorney Eric Lotke talks about his experience with incarcerations, racial disparities, gerrymandering, unions and his 3 books.
An author, activist and scholar, Mr. Lotke fought mass incarceration for years, including pathbreaking research on racial disparities and the practice that came to be called “prison gerrymandering.”
His lawsuit over the exploitative price of phone calls from prison led to new rules by the FCC.
He wasn’t always pro-union, but once he realized that importance of unions to building and maintaining the middle class, he joined the team.
