Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. My guest this week is vocalist Jyrki “69” of Goth Rock band The 69 Eyes. Jyrki came on the podcast to discuss with me how the band is going on its 30th year as a group and how theyve managed to stay current with in the Rock/Metal scene, cultivating a rabid and devout fan base that has kept the band selling records. We delve a little bit into the bands new album “West End” which comes out September 13th on Nuclear Blast Records. Really Jyrki is a fascinating guy and was full of things to talk about and discuss and I really let him drive the ship on this episode, we go from talking about “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” to even an experience he had writing some songs while visiting L.A. and the importance on not rushing the music.
