August is the perfect month to explore meditation and all of its benefits and challenges. This is the 1st of 4 episodes on Meditation.

Listen to find out...

Why meditate

How long to meditate

Why meditation helps you fall asleep

Why meditation is both an art and a science

Why can’t I concentrate during meditation

Meditation … why bother?

You may say to yourself, “It is way too difficult and my mind is way too busy for meditation”.

Maybe you feel like you are just too busy.

Maybe you are thinking that there are so many other things to do in this next chapter.

Right now, you’re asking yourself, “Why should I spend 20 minutes meditating when I only have that 20 minutes in the morning and I think walking would serve me better?” … “What do I choose?” … “How do I know?”

On Episode 6 of the Habit Thrive Podcast and for the entire month of August we are going to explore the art of meditation, the best time to meditate, and why meditation works. All while answering that one, big question:

“Why bother?”

While all kinds of healthy living approaches, techniques and apps are all vying for our time, the mindset “work” of meditation is an important aspect of our health and wellbeing that shouldn’t be ignored. In fact, it can make everything we do even better!

In the past 2 episodes, we asked ourselves:

What do I want more or less of?

What do I value?

Meditation can tie in to those goals and values by providing more quiet time and reflection. Less worry and negative thoughts.

There are as many different types of meditation as there are stars in the sky, and there is something for everyone.

  • Meditate while walking
  • Meditate in nature
  • Meditate before sleep
  • Meditate to start your day
  • Meditate through mental and emotional discomfort

Start by setting a timer for 20 minutes, which I find to be the meditation “sweet spot,” and then begin exploring different ways and times to meditate.

If you’re unsure where to start, I encourage you to try silent meditation. Join me LIVE on Friday mornings at 7:00 a.m. eastern on my Women’s Wellness Community Facebook page or watch the recordings on this page or on my Youtube Channel. Sit with the sounds of nature and the sound and feel of your own breath.

And remember: Keep being you, nobody else does you better than you!
