How do you want the story of YOUR next chapter to begin?

Do you want to be the main character of a story that starts, “It was a dark and dreary day…”

Or do you want it to say, “Her eyes popped open, feeling a rush of gratitude and excitement for the day ahead. She threw open the blinds, letting the sun pour in and said, ‘This is going to be an awesome day!’”?

What if I told you that you get to decide?

That you are the author of your story and of your life.

In Episode #10 of the Habit Thrive Podcast (and in the month of September), we are turning our focus toward planning and choosing happiness.

Research cited in the The How of Happiness tells us that 40% of our happiness is determined by our intentional activities - what we choose to do with our time. Forty percent!

When you think about it like that, it’s easy to feel empowered to take control of our own happiness.

But where do we start? At the beginning of the day, of course!

So join me in breaking out your journal/planner to write down the activities that create the rhythm and flow in your day:

  • When do you wake up?
  • When do you eat breakfast?
  • When do you exercise?
  • When does light (natural or SADD) first hit your eyes in the morning?
  • When do you go to sleep?

Once you start recognizing your own rhythm, you can incorporate things that work with this rhythm and enhance your flow.

Maybe you’ll choose to meditate in the morning sunlight or paint something you see in nature from your window.

You might find that an early morning run or brisk walk raises your endorphins for the day.

The right choice for you is whatever fills up the happiness meter.

So grab your journal and pen, and get ready to plan happiness!
