Nevada has a history of popular food items such as shrimp cocktail, prime rib, and steak. The shrimp cocktail was originally used at the Golden Gate Casino in Las Vegas to attract customers, and more shrimp is sold in Las Vegas in a day than the rest of the US combined. Prime rib was first offered in Las Vegas by The Last Frontier in 1942 for a low price, and steak is a popular dish in the state, with the Golden Steer being a famous steakhouse. Casino buffets are also popular in Nevada, offering a variety of dishes, and the Awful-Awful, a burger and fries combo, is a popular meal from The Nugget Diner in Reno.
