Samhain Eve Special! Welcome back to the Candlelit Tales Podcast, and the last episode of our Superstitions Series. We had the pleasure of talking with Anthony Murphy from Mythical Ireland about the last three stories, and we hope you enjoy our conversation even half as much as we did. In this episode we talk to Anthony about the wider connotations folklore and beliefs have in Irish culture; the links to older mythologies, the power, and prevalence of the church and the effect colonisation had on the minds of the people in Ireland, apart from the subjection and eradication of the Irish language. There was so much to talk about and uppack, and each time we felt like we only scratched the surface. Let us know what you thought of this chat, and if you are listening on ‘oiche shamhna’, Samhain’s eve, or as it’s widely now known as, on Halloween, we wish you a very happy Samhain eve, and we hope the fae have been kind enough to you this day. Mythical Ireland was established in March of the year 2000 by journalist, author, and researcher Anthony Murphy.
