1 #35: Public Land Archery Buck, Eating Scrambled Deer Brains, and Why You Should Build on the Rock 40:57
This week we discuss the first half of our fall. It has had some highs and some lows. There has been a good public land buck taken with the bow by His Sons Outdoors, but outside of that there has not been much to speak of. We discuss a bit about our gator hunting adventures, Rhett's buck, and the upcoming fall/winter seasons. Last, we give our review on scrambled Deer brain and why you should not eat it! In our study of the Word. We wrap up the Sermon on the Mount in Chapter 7 of Matthew. The Lord gives us one of the most convicting verses in the Bible when He tells us that not everyone who says to Him Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of God. He also wraps up the sermon with a charge for everyone to build on the Rock, because when the rain, floods, and wind come, the house built on the Rock will stand the test of time. We hope you enjoy, God Bless!…

In our reading we are told by Christ Himself that the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, but narrow is the gate and hard is the way that leads to life. Jesus tells us few find the narrow way, and we want to be sure that we are apart of the few that find the narrow way. We discuss how when we are saved, we are also called to discipleship with Christ, it is two fold. When we have Christ come in to our heart we will have the desire to be obedient to his Word and will try to be led by His Spirit daily. We hope y'all enjoy, God bless you!!…

His Sons Outdoors Podcast

This week Mason and Rhett sit down to reflect a turkey hunt on Good Friday. A day we all as believers hold as sacred and most important to us. On this Good Friday, Mason recounts his tag out bird. When the breaking of the morning sun did not bring any early morning gobbles, Mason did not worry or judge the hunt just yet. He kept on hunting, and found a mid morning fired up South Carolina Tom, and boy was he hot and ready! In our reading, we read about the Lord Jesus Christ commanding us not to judge. The Lord commands us to first remove the log out of our own eye so that we may clearly see to be able to remove the spec from our brothers eye. We should always remeber that we are all sinners, and that we should look at our own sin and short comings first so that we are better able to help our brothers and sisters. That is not to say we shouldn’t hold our Christian brothers and sisters accountable, because accountablitly is needed, but we should first look at our own cross to bear. We hope you enjoy the episode, God bless you all!…
This week Mason and Rhett recall their April 9th turkey hunt, a day in which an ideal scenario came to life, when both were able to harvest nice public land toms on the same day! They talk about strategy behind the hunt and all of the small details of the hunt which played huge roles in the fellas doubling up on afternoon toms! In our reading of the Holy Word, we are reminded of how the Lord takes care of us daily. We are reminded that the birds of the air do not store up in barns or worry about tomorrow because the Lord gives them what they need daily! Jesus tells us that if the Lord takes care of the birds of the air, how much more will He take care of us because we are of much more value than the birds! Rhett and Mason dive into the difficulty of not worrying in a society that prides itself on being self-sufficient for our own needs which tends to make us worry. We are reminded by the scripture that we are taken care of by the Lord and we should make strides to put Him first in our lives daily! We hope y'all enjoy, God Bless!!…
This week we relive the first weekend of the South Carolina turkey season. Mason and Rhett have a great day in the woods on the first Saturday with both of them being around gobbling turkeys at some point in the day. Rhett even gets a bird down the gun barrel! We also wanted to mention that if your looking for excellent audio quality, you wont find it in this episode, We are again on the side of the road and the audio did not turn out the best, but hopefully you don't listen for the quality of audio. In our study of the Living Word, we continue in Matthew and Jesus instructs us on how to fast and he also tells us to store treasures in Heaven and not on Earth. When we do things for God, we want to bring him the glory and not ourselves. We know as followers of Christ that we should invest and put emphasis on heavenly things, which is not always easy to do when we have the temptation of earthly praise. We hope you all get something out of todays episode. God Bless you!…
This episode we preview our 2022 turkey season a bit more. We discuss our plans to hunt in SC for the whole season as we generally do. After the SC season, we hope to go to WV for a couple weekends to hunt some Appalachian mountain turkeys! In our reading we come across Jesus Himself teaching us how to pray. He instructs us not to boost in our prayer life, and he teaches us how to pray by giving us the Lord's Prayer that most of us know by heart. We understand from Jesus’ teachings the importance of prayer and how powerful it is! We hope you all enjoy the episode!!…
This week we are in the back of a pickup truck on the side of a backroad that borders some public land where a few turkeys live. We discuss our scouting trip that morning. We talk about what all we observed on a March morning that started out as a dreary dawn but sprouted into a beautiful sunny day on the eve of Spring. We also discuss one of Rhett's turkey stories where 2 gobblers out played him on a high point not too far from where this episode was recorded. Additionally, Mason tells about spotting a flock of turkeys on his way home from work several times in the past week and how he is going to attempt to get permission from the landowner to try and hunt! In our study of the living word we start Chapter 6 of Matthew. Jesus tells us that we should give in secret without drawing attention to ourselves. He says that we should not let our left hand know what our right is doing. This seems simple in itself, but our sinful nature constantly wants us to draw attention to ourselves instead of giving God the glory. Jesus says the Father sees what is done in secret and rewards what is done in secret! We hope the words of Jesus will bring holy conviction on everyone, including ourselves, and as a result we pray we would be more faithful and dedicated to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!…
This week we give our thoughts on how we assumed the squirrel tournament would turn out, and wouldn’t you know we were pretty wrong! The squirrels were tough for most of the teams but a few were able to find some tree rats that were moving around! In continuing our dissection of the Sermon on the Mount, we are told by Jesus Christ Himself to love our enemy. This doctrine is not often taught in our society, as we are accustomed to generally despising our enemies and doing anything but loving them! We talk through how hard but also how true and freeing it is to love you enemy! We hope you enjoy, God bless!…
This week we talk about Mason’s fascinating taste of music. From classic rock to German rap, Mason is well versed in his music! He explains some of the reasoning for his exotic taste and it all makes a little more sense now! In our study of the living Word, we continue reading the Sermon on the Mount out of the Gospel of Matthew. We read about an eye for an eye and how Jesus preaches the opposite of that, when He says to turn the other cheek! We dive into the tough teaching and talk through lots of examples of how we should turn the other cheek, even when the world tells us not to. We hope you enjoy! God Bless…
What’s your favorite thing to hunt? When you picture a perfect hunt or reminisce about a hunt with your dad or a friend what do you think of? We discuss this and more this week as we talk about our favorite hunting and why! As Jesus bring us conviction through his word, we talk about how we should let our yes’s mean yes and our no’s mean no! This convicts us and the Holy Spirt starts working in our hearts to bring us new revelation and conviction as we dive into this weeks reading! We hope you get as much out of it as we did and have a great week! God bless!…
Rhett graduated from Clemson! So we made a weekend trip up to celebrate with some public land bow hunting! Mason quickly gets on a good buck and makes a wacky shot, fortunately it all ends well for us! We are very excited to continue studying the book of Mathew! Come hear us drive into the word where Jesus tells us that we need to cut out the things that make us sin!…
This week, we talk about our favorite part of our Kansas trip! Since we were little, we’ve talk about going out of state on a good duck hunt and getting it done on public land was truly a blessing! In our reading, Jesus gives us the hard truth that the Law is harder to fulfill than the Jews had thought. Thankfully He is our salvation!! We hope y’all enjoy and have a blessed week!…
This episode we reminisce on our second day of our Kansas public land duck hunting trip. We discuss the ins and outs of the hunt, tactics used, and what we bagged on the day! In our reading we read about how we are to be the salt of the Earth and a lamp on a stand as we spread the love of Jesus Christ! We hope y’all enjoy!…
We finally did it! Our first out of state Duck Hunt! This week we talk about our first day in Kansas and we have so much to talk about that we can’t fit it in just one episode! We also dive deeper into the our study of Mathew and hear some of Jesus’ sermon on the Mount! Have a great week and God bless!…
This week we bring in Carlie and Skylar, the wife and fiancé of His Sons. Carlie and Skylar recall funny memories where the fellas took them hunting in some less than favorable conditions! And while hunting isn’t for everyone, Jesus is! We continue our study of the Gospel where we see our Savior call His first disciples and they follow Him immediately! We hope you enjoy, God Bless!…
This week Mason lays out how he killed by far his biggest buck to date, one that he may never top in the home state of South Carolina. Mason talks about how there were many doubts and hardships with his big buck, but in the end he got to put his hands on the brute! In our study of the Word, we read about the baptism and temptation of Jesus, two things that we as believers will all experience in this life, and something that God himself in human form had to face. We hope you enjoy the episode, God Bless you!…
On this episode we recall Rhett's public land buck bow kill and the strategy that went into sealing the deal on the buck! We talk about the importance of thermals and how playing the wind and thermals is very important to outsmarting a nosey deer! In our Bible Study we read about John the baptizer laying the path for the Messiah, Jesus Christ! John comes into the story as a bit of an outcast, preaching in the wilderness, but he is a very important part of the ministry of Jesus Christ, and we see how the Lord constantly uses people of lowly earthly ranking to complete His will on Earth. We hope you enjoy it, God Bless!…
