Canterbury Cultures is a major collaboration of not-for-profit agencies that all have one thing in common - working with our migrant and refugee communities. Canterbury Cultures is a fortnightly programme about the stories of newcomers to Christchurch and the resources for Canterbury's refugee and migrant communities presented by those working in the sector. Canterbury Cultures celebrates the diversity of Canterbury’s different cultures by speaking with migrants themselves and their experiences in our Garden City. Each programme is hosted by a different organisation in rotation with all sorts of topics being discussed, such as migrant experiences and stories, what's available for people new to our region, the challenges, what works well and what needs to happen to improve services and delivery. The programme airs fortnightly at 10:30am on a Tuesday and is repeated Thursdays at 10:30am. Hear about the wonderful contributions diverse cultures bring to enrich our city. There may even be some delicious recipes and lessons on easy words in different languages. It's a veritable potpourri of culture for your ears. This programme involves the following people: Shirley and Jo (Christchurch Resettlement Services); Patrick O'Connor (PEETO); Sumaiya Nasir (Canterbury Refugee Council), Maria Fresia (Interpreting Canterbury) and Thi Phan (Hagley Community College). For more information on the agencies involved please see the following links: Interpreting Canterbury - interpret.org.nz Christchurch Resettlement Service - crs.org.nz Canterbury Refugee Council - canterburyrefugeecouncil.org.nz PEETO - peeto.ac.nz Hagley Community College - hagley.school.nz
