While informative videos exist on the platform, it can be difficult to separate hard facts from misleading exaggeration or even outright falsehoods with so many channels vying for viewers’ attention. This week, two prominent YouTubers join the podcast to discuss how they seek to cut through the noise with their own videos about North Korea that both entertain and inform. Bart van Genugten of iGoBart and Benjamin Weston of DPRK Explained talk about what led them to start posting content on the website, their travels inside North Korea, interviewing veterans of the Korean War and more. Bart van Genugten (@BartGenugten) is a Dutch travel vlogger and YouTube documentary filmmaker living in Korea, as well as a video producer for NK News. Benjamin Weston (@BenWestonDPRK) is a former Koryo Tours tour manager and international submissions coordinator for the Pyongyang International Film Festival. He currently lives in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. About the podcast: The North Korea News Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Jacco Zwetsloot (@JaccoZed) exclusively for NK News, covering all things DPRK — from news to extended interviews with leading experts and analysts in the field, along with insight from our very own journalists.
